I personally believe no matter who you are you should not modify or mess with the American flag. I don't mind gay people i just don't like the gay flag.

Thats not an American flag. It is similar to an American flag, bu uses different colors, and a different number of stripes, therefore it is a completely different flag. Extremely gay, yes, but then that is the point of that flag. American flag defaced, no. It's just similar, not the same.

According to the GLBT website that flag has been around since 1989 does not have 50 stars or 13 stripes

They do not use a american flag to make that flag.

Do I agree with it? No I do not.

Show us that law!

Besides maybe they made it from scratch then it was never an American flag. It is doing its intent getting people to discuss it.

Smart man! I researched a bit myself and found that the supreme court has dismissed most all flag desecration cases this was the latest.

Quote:
Gregory Johnson, a member of the Revolutionary Communist Party, was arrested during a demonstration outside of the 1984 Republican National Convention in Dallas after he set fire to a flag while protestors chanted "America, the red, white, and blue, we spit on you." In a 5-4 decision authored by Justice Brennan, the Court first found that burning the flag was a form of symbolic speech subject to protection under the First Amendment. The Court also determined that under United States v. O'Brien, 391 U.S. 367 (1968), since the State law was related to the suppression of freedom of expression, the conviction could only be upheld if Texas could demonstrate a "compelling" interest in its law. The Court next found that Texas' asserted interest in "protecting the peace" was not implicated under the facts of the case. Finally, while the Court acknowledged that Texas had a legitimate interest in preserving the flag as a "symbol of national unity," this interest was not sufficiently compelling to justify a "content based" legal restriction (i.e., the law was not based on protecting the physical integrity of the flag in all circumstances, but was designed to protect it from symbolic protest likely to cause offense to others).
Pretty interesting stuff

I may not agree with the use of the Representation of the Flag but it is protected under the 1st amendment

thats a good point. it was created to get people to recognize their issues, and it certainly works.

Proposition 8 states:
"Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California."

Personally, i don't care about marriage rights. But i feel that gay people should be able to have all the other rights that "normal people" do, such as visitation rights, death stuff. it just seems unfair. I'm not gay, but i do have a couple gay friends, and they are no different then anyone else.

except for when they get drunk and hit on you. Not cool

just makes the whole situation uncomfortable, just happened again on fat tuesday, hanging out with a group of people and this girl has a gay friend which is fine, having a good time then he starts eye boning me and another guy. Had to make my point but then he hugged a buddy of mine and said he had a huge crush on him for 2 years. haha

did make for a funny story though haha
