I don't have any plans to "Bug out" unless things get very, very bad, then if possible I'll get to a friends very remote house ( I've been invited if that should happen) . I have stored, 30 gals of water, enough freeze dried food to last for a month ( who said freeze dried food won't last, are you kidding me? ) , quiet Honda Generator, at least 10 gals of gas, 20 lbs. each beans and rice, lots of camping equipment, guns and ammo. I have a 30 watt solar charger on my teardrop trailer, it keeps the deep cycle 12 volt battery charged and I have a 1200 watt inverter running off of the battery. I can charge electronics or run small power tools from this system.
I think for most people, heading to the mountains will be a terrible mistake. they'll be cold, hungry and fighting each other for food half way through winter. I'll stay where I know my neighbors, I have a fireplace insert and 2 cords of firewood, fruit trees and a vegi garden. I would plan to be as quiet and out of sight as possible and be vigilant of predators.
I do keep a "Get Home Bag" in my vehicle with trail mix, cliff bars, beef jerky, tooth brush, full change if clothes, leather work gloves, hat, sunscreen, flashlight, ammo, space blanket, fire making supplies etc. I always have water, extensive 1st aid kit and at least a light jacket in my car.

Bit of bump, but question to you guys, couldn't find anybody mentioning it, what about truck itself. What tools, spare parts do you guys keep in truck in case that brakes while away from home and such. ?

For trips of 75 miles or less away from my house, I keep some oil, a full tool set, and some electrical odds and ends. Anything farther away than that, and I add some more fluids, serp belt, and more tools.
