Mulally is just what Ford needed. Who know what kind of shape they'd be in otherwise. Maybe bankrupt like GM and Chrysler....

"Ford was in a better situation than its rivals because it borrowed more than $23 billion in 2006"
...dosent mean there any-better than GM or Chrysler - just went down the path at different times.

Good to see they're cautiously optimistic. I'd be worried if they were saying everything is great....

I live about 3 miles from Ford World HQ. I can be at the either the test track (well, close to the test track, it's definitely off limits to "civilians") or the mansion of Henry Ford himself in about 5 minutes. in spite of all that, we really don't know too much more than anybody else does. Detroiters and Michiganders follow the automakers really close since they are all based here, and we have been hit so hard the last few years.
But among the handful of Ford workers I know, the general vibe is as positive as can be under the circumstances. Ford is obviously in better shape than GM or Chrysler, but I don't really think I know anything that the rest of the country doesn't know. If I hear anything noteworthy I'll post it here.

YA I saw Detroit was struggling financially very understandable when big companies are not making money there are no tax dollars coming in
