This is kinda an idea from a thread that gave me a bunch of laughs when I was part of a Toyota forum, back in the day. Basically tell us all the stupid things that people have told you about cars, the misconceptions they have asked you about, etc. They don't all have to be in one post, obviously, just kinda like to laugh at the general public for the things they say.

If this thread exists somewhere, please feel free to post a link for me, and I will gladly slide on over there.

Now, on to the fun stuff.

I had a buddy once try and tell me that he had a Mercury Mountaineer with 1500 hp, 2 BullyDog programming chips, and true dual exhaust. Also, his 5.0 supposedly came from a Mustang, but after some research, no, not true.

Going slower uses less gas because the wheels turn less, therefore, you can fuel less and save money. Or, going faster gets the driver there faster, therefore, less fuel burned.

Oil is overrated, and the dash light comes on to let the driver know that something is wrong.

I once had a guy tell me his 5.9 Cummins needed new spark plugs. I was like -_-, really? I proceeded to ask him if he was sure the problem wasn't muffler bearings.

I have a guy in my ROTC class that was talking about going mudding. I asked him what type of truck? And he said a ranger, with a V8 in the BED of the truck!!! With three turbos and monster truck tires. He told me it hit 300 mph. I was like oh man that's awesome........ Turned around and looked at my friends and we all busted out laughing hahaha.

Oh yeah, the good ol' headlight/blinker fluid.

No kidding! You actually get better mileage with the tailgate up, because when traveling at speed, air circulates in your bed, creating a "cushion" that allows for air to pass over the entirety of your truck without creating as much drag. At least that's how I understand it to work.

I had a kid once tell me that he put diesel in with his gas, because it worked better than injector cleaner. Same kid "made a muffler" from an old aluminum baseball bat.

My buddy decided to not listen to me and go to a local electronics store to chat about his audio system problem he was having. He kept blowing his inline fuse to his amp/subs.

The guy told him "You can never have too big of a fuse when dealing with this kind of problem" I almost DIED when the guy said that. Ya sure just give him a big ass fuse and watch his amp blow up. Sheesh.

The last car show I went to this year I got into an argument with a guy that was trying to tell me the reason Toyota supras can be so fast is because the 2jz is a rotary engine. And his stock 2012 5.0 mustang was the fastest car there lol. With my car, my buddy's srt10 viper and another buddy's '79 transam with a built 383 were all parked around him. Just one of those guys that ran his mouth but wouldn't run his car

another i heard recently was from stacey, a guest came in to menards and after rambling awhile started in on how he drives as fast as he can on the hwy then lets off the gas and costs. All in his "miracle way to save gas"....lolz
