I may be mistaken, but I seem to recall reading somewhere that the Ranger sold in Europe, at one point in time, came equipped with a 2.5L Duratorq diesel engine. Now, instead of discontinuing the Ranger, and given the sharp rise in popularity of diesels, why does Ford not consider this as an option for the U.S.? One would think that it'd have a very good chance at success.

Personally, I think it's going to be a very sad day when we see Volkswagen and Mihindra pickups on the road, sans Rangers.

I`m definately thinking about an Amarok at the end of the year.
The amarok looks better than the latest 2010 euro ranger but maybe this next T6 model will be good when its finally released.

The VW Amarok looks really good, inside and out. BUT, being a VW it's probably going to be a heck of a lot more expensive then any similar Ranger.

Agreed although I think it will be cheaper to run with a modern 2.0 diesel and 6 gears, but parts will be more expensive, swings and roundabouts as they say.

Yea, upkeep will be expensive, like on all VWs. But having a 6spd turbo diesel would be fun as hell! What are they asking for these in US dollar equiv (or have they not officially released it yet)?

I found some pictures of the interior, I'll have to dig the link up again.

Its not released in the UK until Autumn and the price is still to be announced but VW say it`ll be `competitive`

I reckon about £25k/$37k

Daaaaaaaaymn. You could almost buy two compact pickups brand new for that.... But then again they're releasing the 4 door this year and the reg. cab in 2011, so I could see a TD decked out super cab costing about that much.

What does this weird thing do that a Ford Explorer Sport-Track doesn't?
Aside from being an ugly foreign vehicle...

Maybe I'm weird, no wait, I'm definitely weird, but I kinda want to get a Mahindra and mini truck it. I kinda dig it's quirky design, and I think it would be slick slammed on 18"s

UPDATE: I read that they will be selling DEC '10. I want to drive one! Even though it is ugly it sounds like a solid little truck...

I think it will do good for a year or two, then fall apart, plus i really would like to see the crash test, becuase i think it would look something like this.....

But there will be people buying it like wildfire just like with hyundai's and kia's and soon we will have to look at that ugly POS at every commecial for the super bowl and listen about how super duper awesome it is blah blah blah
