JEEP gladiator

I would rather take one of these if/when they come out. They are supposed to have a diesel option too.

VW might come out with a diesel truck in the midsize range. It would be 4 door and serious competition for all other trucks.

brute is just a kit for a jeep wrangler. its like 9 grand more to make a jeep a brute, so its not really a vehicle on its own. its made by american expedition vehicles, they pioneered the hemi in a jeep for mass production

if they ever mass produced that, it would probably be a hit

ya, i read that too, but, and this is pure speculation on my part, it would be foolish for VW to pass up a chance to extend its reach to another market, especially with the rangers future in question. IMO, if i were incharge of VW, i would sell the Amarok here the same year that the ranger is slated to end. It looks like a decent truck and it did very well as a support truck in the dakar last month. I would buy one.

I expect the amarok to dominate the pick up market over here simply because its got a 2.0 diesel 6 speed which is gonna be way cheaper to run than all the current 2.5 and 3.0 trucks we have which only average 25-30mpg. Its also a good looking truck.

Ok, we've gotten this far in a forum with everyone wanting a diesel yet hating most of the small compact trucks that could be available. This leads me to the question of all questions, "Why can't I get a 4 door diesel Ranger here in Alabama?"

well, we all obviously like the current ranger, because we all have one. So what incentive would Ford have to make a diesel or 4 door? they offer the sport trac and f-150 for bigger size, and a diesel would raise the price of a ranger to levels comparable with better equipped f-150s.
