That...made no sense (to me).
You're talking about weight, then about grip.
Granted, if she went from 18s to 15s, you could see a diff in launch, but the hps would remain the same. Less weight does not generate hps, to my knowledge. Both dyno methods do not take grip into consideration, hence me calling shenanigans on your theory ( ).
Course, i could be dead wrong, i'm not a mechanic by any means.

No, there is x amount of horsepower at your crank, there is a parasitic draw from your transmission, driveline and rear diff, as well as your tires, if you have a really heavy tire, extreme example a 44 inch bogger, you lose horsepower at the wheels *where I am making my point. compared to a 33 inch. You take of some of the rotational mass, or weight you are trying to spin and you will gain horsepower at your wheels.

Its not about gaining HP...its about losing less horsepower from the time it leaves the engine and gets to the wheels. So no, she didnt gain anymore HP...But less power was lost by the time it got to the wheels.

But we're talking about a highly tuned car, no way such a radical change would have been done.

When you're talking about 700hp...20 isnt that much...
hypothetical situation:
Engine makes:1000hp
only 700hp makes it to the wheels.
get some lighter wheels/tires/driveshaft and less power is lost. so more horsepower is gained at the wheels...Then engine is still making the same power...Its just a lot easier to turn a 20lbs wheel and tire than a 50lbs wheel and tire.

Thats what I've been saying, I'm talking wheel horse, not the flywheel

Tires, not wheels.
At least, from the post. But re-reading it, i don't even know if he had the same tires before, only worn out. Dunno.

I know...but people's ears tend to clog (or eyes go blurry in this case) as soon as you use the word GAIN when talking about tires...they dont understand.
In other news, 4th and 5th gear are making hella rackett...If I let off the gas in either (even with the clutch pushed in) it sounds like I put a bunch of beer cans in a clothes dryer...and makes a stange noise almost constantly in 4th....Not quite as bad as when I take off the throttle, but it donw sound good...just started when it got cold out.
