Re: FRF Afterhours
I was looking at the explorer 5.0 swaps...... Might be better actually. From what i've just read, it's fairly easy. At least according to the TRS site anyhow.

Working on gathering parts, paint, vynals, and such for the rest of the build LOL. I use this as an everyday truck, but it's also the only truck I have for hunting and general off road fun. Hoping to make it much better than stock!

Other than obvious price difference, are there any issues I should watch for with rebuilt engines vs new?

Just out of boredom...
Buying new you know what you are getting and it will come with a warranty. Not all used engines will. That's more of what you are paying for then anything. The upside to used is that they are cheaper. But you probably will not get a warranty, nor will you get service records, and anything important like they changed the cam or plugs when, plus what was the storage like on the engine. If it say outside in the open uncovered you could be in for a huge headache.
With a used engine check all the fluids that are left in it, get as much info as you can about it, and do a compression check. I don't care what it takes you to do that, dragging home a beat motor with a dead cylinder after spending all day pulling it really pisses me off!!!
I can go either way on this, for me it more matters about funding. With a used engine I won't be as afraid to beat on it cuz I know I can get another cheap lol The new engine I'd take some better care of

Re: FRF Afterhours
Seems so, I asked over in the V8 section about the whole thing anyhow, couldn't find anything specific to what I wanted to know.... But I can tell, this is gonna be a long project LOL

This is also what I'm considering as well, if I screw it up while learning to work on it, it won't hurt nearly as bad. I'll probably end up going to an actual shop to get one, chances are the folks there will have taken care of it. But, I could be lying to myself too LOL

Re: FRF Afterhours
I hate it when you wanna buy something, the store says it has it, then you go there and it's not the right item.
