Great pictures posted. Brings back some thoughts...the fake/vinyl woody trim on station wagons of the early 70's,..the (forget what you call it) black vinyl roof trim available for many hardtops then. A few 'fake' convertables...a hardtop with black cloth covering but with a few ridges to make it look like a true convertable top. I thought all that was long gone....but no...I've seen a few Lincolns recently with the vinyl-type roof trim? What is with that?
The only non-fakes were the seldom seen now..true 'woodies" of the 1930's-40's where much of the back was beautifully made out of wood. I suppose someone with such carpenter skills could make a topper for their Ranger...it would take some thought/planning to end up with a good looking result.
