Approximately eight and a half minutes ago, I was standing on my patio and happened to look in the hedges below. What did I see? A cat, apparently sleeping soundly. This both intrigued and annoyed me. For you see, this same cat has been meowing constantly for the past several nights, keeping me awake.

"Now is the time for decisive and vengeful action," I said to myself.

I went to the refrigerator and retrieved an old container of mustard. I thought I'd squeeze some mustard on this bothersome cat and scare it away, if not forever, at least for the night. Well, suffice it to say I poured a very large quantity of mustard on this cat, and still it did not move.

I think the cat is dead. And now it's completely covered with mustard. I also think it's my neighbor's cat, and am somewhat troubled by what her reaction may be when she finds her black and white (and now yellow) beast in the morning. She's crazy. I often hear her, screaming at the top of her lungs, that Harry Truman is hiding in her closet, eating her winter's supply of bacon and jellybeans.
