a great dane needs to run a ton. if its not running full blast for like 1 hour a day, it'll be destructive and go insane. my puppy is similar, if i dont take her out to let out all her energy, she'll be bouncing off everything. so i take her out and let her run circles in a field for a while then she settles down. if your dog sleeps in the kennel then don't use it as punishment or a time out area, they will not like if you do that. check this thread out, it has a lot of information about this stuff-new puppy thread

Ya definatly dont use the kennel for sleeping and punishment. That will screw them up in the head

we have a half acre back yard. it is fully fenced in but it only has 4ft fencing in 3 places. in front and in back. it is getting bad we had her in a crate for when we are gone but she found a way to rip the door off it. and her dog run is chain link and she bends the metal and gets out then opens the garage door! shes not no dumb dog. i play with her every day to exercise her but it doesnt help. should i get her in to a training class? she does not listen to anyone at all

exercise and mental stimulus... dogs need at least an hour or physical exercise a day, plus fit in about 15 min of training and the dog will be happy!

training might be good. you also have to remember around 1 year old is when the dogs are the most rebellious, its their teenage years sorta.
