Where I live cops spend more time washing their cars than doing their job. They also turn on their lights when a traffic light Is red and turn them back off after they get far enough away. Makes me so mad.

How do you know they're not responding to calls? You think every call they get requires a full lights and sirens response? A LEO friend of mine is often single-handedly responsible for patrolling about a 500 square mile area. He routinely runs 80+ MPH everywhere he goes because he has a half dozen calls pending at any one time. When he "rides someones ass" he just wants them to get the f*** out of the left lane, where they've suddenly decided to be good law-abiding citizens doing 1 MPH under the speed limit, so he can get to the next 3 calls before his shift ends.

DMVs started requiring seat belt usage to protect drivers/passengers and the insurance companies looked at the law as a way to keep insurance premiums down.
Insurance premiums sure as hell didn't go down.

I call bs. He routinely runs 80+ mph because he can. If the call doesn't require lights and siren then it is not important enough to require speeding.

I just can't stand cop wannabes.

I have respect for cops and what they do. I usually try to give them the benefit of the doubt but then there are the ones that don't even know the laws when they pull you over. I've had them say I was threatening them when I put my hands out the window and say I'm carrying a gun. Which I'm required to do because i have a permit and carrying concealed.
The fact is most of them are thugs on a government payroll. They don't follow the laws they are supposed to uphold. How is a cop with window tint going to give me a ticket for tint?
Why is it ok for a cop to speed to work so he is not late but it's not ok for me to speed to work?
Why can he go 80+ mph to get his calls done before the end of the shift but it's not ok for me to speed to get my calls done before my shift ends?
There are very few good decent cops left.

Bingo on both - the cops around here like to intimidate big time. I have seen them @ the local QT where they hang out @ and they brag about beating people up and they stand with black gloves on and try to either intimidate or impress (women). They also will turn lights on and floor it and then turn them off just to avoid traffic and shit. We also have one that is banging a horny house wife across the road - three days a week - same times. Always stays one hour then leaves.

Hell, we have them here that don't even know what a jurisdiction zone is!

Here in the Puget Sound, you never see LEO's with seatbelts on. By the same token, you ALWAYS seem them on a damn cellphone, though that' a primary offense* law out here..

*Meaning you can be pulled over and ticketed (hard!) if a LEO sees you with your phone stuck to your head...or even in your hand.

And I'll call BS on your BS call. I have ridden along with cops multiple times, and have seen what they do. Have you?

The first sentence is priceless. Especially since it's immediately followed by an ignorant, nine-sentence, cop-bashing rant.

All the "must notify" states that I know of simply require persons carrying a firearm to promptly tell law enforcement that they have a firearm during an official encounter. I have not heard of any law that mandates waving your hands out the window and shouting that you have a gun.

Smooth move Ex-lax. No wonder you were treated poorly.

Why can the police have darker tint than you? Read the motor vehicle code. It's probably under the same exemptions that allow them to have the flashing red and blue lights you can't have either.

Yes actually. I know exactly what they do. Have an uncle that's a cop a cousin that was a sheriff and about 5-6 good friends that are also cops.

I didn't bash or rant I just asked why do they get to do things that you will be ticketed for.
It's amusing you follow do easy and think its ok but if someone who was smoking told you to quit smoking you would be angry and swiftly call them down on their hypocrisy.

I did not say wave I said put as in calmly. It is a sign that you don't intend to use it. You hold them out and wait for the officer to open the door and then disarm you. It's what was said to be done in the course. Just because there is no law doesn't mean it is not something done in that area. Also ex lax I live in Louisiana which still follows Napoleonic code which makes things quite different so there is that for you to chew on.
Do you even have a concealed carry permit?

I've been to Louisiana. I wouldn't be bragging about it if I were you. It's been said that LA has the worst education system in the country. Thanks for the incoherent posts and providing the evidence.

You should discuss your low opinion of professional law enforcement with the friends and family you mentioned. You said MOST of them are thugs, so at least a few of your cop friends and family would have to be included in that statement.

The Napoleonic code is French civil law. Last I heard, Louisiana was in the United States where we follow the Constitution of the United States. But if you back-bayou hicks want to eschew the Bill of Rights for the laws of a foreign socialist state, then you deserve to be treated like sh!t. You do know that Napoleonic law presumes guilt before innocence, right?

Do I have a concealed carry permit? More than one.

Guys, before this becomes a real flame-fest, how about agreeing to disagree, or taking it private, please?

Good advice. It's like my grandfather once told me, "Don't argue with an idiot. He'll only drag you down to his level, then beat you with experience."

Good job on the insults bro. Clearly you have some inferiority complex, maybe some insecurities that are much deeper than some opinions about cops. You should look into that, there is medicine for it. I hope you get better.

That's the smartest thing you have ever said. To bad it came from someone else's lips, but that is why I am done here. :-)

Guys, stop it. I didn't make this thread so we could argue over what police officers do in their car.
