2wd and winter/snow..how do they do?
well this winter will be my 1st with a RWD vehicle and 1st with a truck, ive had a AWD olds bravada that was a beast in snow, but all my other cars were FWD and well cars not trucks..so how does a 2wd ranger do in snow?..im not in arctic snow hell conditions were i live during the winter season though we do get a bit of snow round here,so being from NY were winters are 10x worse i should be good, but being used to fwd cars how will the ranger fair?

awful.. i mean depends on your driving habits and tires, i would suggest putting weight in the bed.

Re: 2wd and winter/snow..how do they do?
Just put some weight in the bed of the truck right over the rear axles and don't be an idiot. You will be just fine. I learned to drive in the snow with a 2wd '89 Ranger. You will fine. Hell the trucks I have had have all been 4x4 but I only use it in the snow when if I get stuck or somthing otherwise it is 2wd all the time

Yup I prefer 2wd in snow conditions. Add weight in the form of sandbags / salt rock mix. Winter Tires Essential,, posibly studed.
Keeps you on your toes when your driving. 4x4 really comes into play when you start hitting patches of ice. Or if you decide to drive threw snow banks.

Re: 2wd and winter/snow..how do they do?
I used to have a little 93 with a 4 cyl and I had to 80 lbs elevator weights in it and I drove home in 2 foot of snow. 160-180 lbs and drive with a smart head and you will be fine!

As others have said, weight over the rear axle. Also make sure you have good tires.

well, if it's difficult to get around with no weight back there, then start with ~200lbs. see if that helps...then you can adjust the amount of weight as conditions change...
BUT, a lot of us do fairly well without weight back there...

I've had my ranger for two winters now and haven't had a problem. We have fifty pound bags of mag chloride laying around the horse barn (ice melter for the arena) so I put them in trashbags because you don't want them to bust open. Set up some two by fours so they'd stay over the axle. I used 200 lbs and didnt have a problem.
