Default Looking for a possible Gas Saver for a DD (Non-ranger content)

I may have to go back to commuting before long and I've been kinda looking into other vehicles to use as commuters and was wondering what everyone else out there had!
I've been looking at a few things that usually are pretty reliable, cheap and good on gas. Mostly High Mileage Civics and such. I would love to hear what everyone else has out there to maybe influence my decision.

I know I have a 2.3 and it does get great gas mileage, for a truck, but I love her too much to drive her into the ground like that lol. Im looking for something almost described as a disposable car lol under $1000, cheap to insure and will last enough to at least pay for itself. I will be commuting 65 milles a day.
Thanks for any information you may be able to give and any suggestions you may have!!

Yeah those are the top models I've been looking at. All just hold their resale too good lol like 200k+ miles and still several grand.

This is one possibility... Looks dont matter lol spraypaint and a hammer can fix anything

Not bad, but like theyre saying it might have an 02 sensor bad. Dont wanna get into too much work or anything lol never worked on a saturn. Those miles seem too good to be true too lol

Those miles not seem fishy to you though?
Ive been wary ever since my dad stupidly got ripped in a deal with a Dodge Ram with only 33,000 miles on it!!

After the speedo was replaced with prolly 120,000 miles on the truck lol

Sounds like a good idea. If my dad had done that he would have known the truck had been sold to the owner before him with 90,000 miles lol

I'd say a Focus. Friend of mine had an 02 with over 200,000 miles on it and all it needed was routine maintenance (oil changes, brakes, plugs, etc.). He sold it and got a new Focus ST.

I can't hardly find any focuses around here for sale

I've also put thought into another 4 banger and lowering it lol will still get decent mileage compared to what I get now
