Re: whats your longest hauling trip?
Longest hauling trip was I went with my uncle to just north of Janesville, WI in a Ford Explorer with a 16' car hauler in tow to get a 1960's Corvair. 400 miles one way, left at 5 am and I don't remember what time we got back home but it was a LONG day, fun though.
Most I've ever hauled was about 92,000lbs in a semi with a hopper bottom grain trailer about 5 miles from the field to the bin. I do believe that rig was heavier than the Case IH MX 285 and 1000 bushel auger wagon, that I have driven countless miles of field road and gravel roads. The heaviest would be one of those two rigs.
Most on a single vehicle would be a tandem International dump truck with 14 tons of 3/4" gravel.
Most in my Ranger and longest haul would be 1300 lbs of dog food. I use to buy it wholesale by the pallet and split it with another guy when we (combined) had 10 bird dogs. I had 3. Most dog food I ever hauled was 6900 lbs, fuel got expensive and I took a trailer and bought 3 pallets of feed, we were also selling it here and there.
Other than the above 2 trips to SW Kansas (1400 miles round trip) on pheasant hunting trips with 4 guys, 3 dogs and all our guns, clothes, and dog food for a week in a 2007 Supercrew F150 (people and cargo roughly 1800 lbs). A vacation trip to Glacier National park in Montana (1800 miles one way) over a 2 week span with my wife in our 2005 Mazda MPV.
Longest drives: Nonstop to Meade, KS alternating drivers with my dad and our hunting buddies. 12 hours driving (14 hours total trip time) from Home to Mitchell, SD. That was on our 2007 Montana trip.
A friend of mine and I are getting ready to go to Douglas, WY in a month on an antelope hunt in my '07 Ranger reg cab. 18 hour drive straight through but we'll probably stop somewhere around the 12-14 hour mark as we have plenty of time budgeted to get there. Truck ought to be loaded pretty good for that trip since we are planning a week basically off grid in the sticks. Only source of power will be the truck itself.
