Dodge Ram or Ford F-150?

Well my dad is planning on trading two vehicles for one. He has a 2001 Dodge Ram and a 2012 Ford Escape. He really doesn't want to get rid of the Ford Escape so he is planning on giving me the Ford Escape and selling my Ranger.

Well here's the question: Which truck should we go for? Dodge Ram or Ford F-150? I personally don't like Dodge vehicles or any Chrysler vehicle at that, but its going to be his truck and I probably wont be riding/driving it very often. I rather give up my Ranger to a Ford F-150. We used to own an F-150 before we got the Escape, it was a great truck that pretty much had everything in it; but we traded it in because it was time to pour in money into it (100K tune up, brakes, and licensing). Which truck do you think will be better?

wait...so wait your dad wants to sell ''your'' ranger...if its really your truck you can tell him no...and both the ram and the F150 have their pros/cons

Yes, I am aware of being able to say no but if I get the Escape, I get better gas mileage with it and even though its also a 3.0L V6, its actually more powerful than my Ranger. Thank you DOHC. Lol. The 28 MPG the Escape gives us will help me out when it comes to driving 20 miles a day to college. Then again...I love the Ranger. Thing is...whatever truck my dad gets; I may have to deal with the truck every now and then.

True...but I just thought I get some opinions on both trucks. I know someone around here has owned/owns a Dodge truck. I know there are many who own an F-150. We used to own a 2000 F-150 and it was an amazing truck except for the gas mileage...getting an opinion on a newer F-150 of it pros/cons would be nice. I know it could be a little hard to get pros/cons on a Dodge on here. Yet alone on edmunds.

20 miles a day isnt much for gas. Not to be biased on trucks (sence this is a ford forum) but dodges have always had bad trans. Still not a bad truck, and your truck might not have any problems, but my opinion Stay ford.

2WD or 4WD? Stock tires?
My dads F-150 4WD with bigger tires gotten no better than 10 MPG. Took a bit to get it going though. 5.4L V8 had power though.

20 miles one way. Sorry if I mislead you on the mileage. So that would be 40 miles a day. Dodge do have a bad transmission. My dads 2001 Dodge transmission is really starting to give out; starts slipping when climbing a hill. For some reason, he likes Dodge over Ford? After number of problems with his Dodge..

Just depends what you do, if you dont put much in your bed, take the escape.

They both have pros and cons...I like the interior of the ford alot better, seems to have more room.....but u really need to think about wat u wanna do with the truck and then see which one is gonna work out better for ya.....I love a hemi, cant beat the rumble of a V8, but the new ecoboost is looking pretty cool.....Good amount of power and pretty good gas mileage....just sit down and think about it....u will prolly answer the question urself

If you think you getting 28 MPG in that escape keep dreamin. I have one with the 3.0 and its getting like 21-24 highway.

The dodge...but only if it has a cummins in it. If not then hell no.

Yeah that thing drinks more gas then people think. But it is a powerful 3.0.
