some people stand by pushrods, they are vintage design that are more proven then direct injection DOHC with cylinder deactivation, but look at what happened when christianity tried to suppress scientist hundreds of years ago. humans barely evolved. its time GM update a little more then just 6 spd trannies.
I'm pretty sure the OHC engine is an older design than pushrods. Anyway you dont need two cams to operate 4 valves, and piston deactivation is just stupid.

you're right, OHC were first used in WW1 in planes, OHV was used in the late forties.

Agreed. Certain trim levels if the 09+ I don't like, but yea.

And the 87-91 front end looked bad IMO. 92-96 was much better, and my all time favorite body style. Close second is the 78-79.

Pushrods were outdated when they were introduced, IMO.

I tend to disagree with that statement. My supercrew has a 5.5' so by that standard its not a "truck" so if its not a truck than it must be a car right? Ive never seen a car pull something like this.....

Its really about what you intend to do with your truck, for me the crew cab is worth more to me than and extra 6" of bed length. I can still fit plenty in the bed and I can haul 5 people while hauling 10K+ pounds off the hitch at the same time. To me, thats a truck.

Im so glad people feel the same way i do about these new "trucks." older ones were the ones that were made well. my '91 Rangers got 360,000 on it. (dont shoot me for talking about Chevy, theyre American too thats what matters) my dads old '78 Blazer died with over 750,000 try squeezing that out of an import

We would use our trucks for different purposes pat, I use mine for the bed not the towing, so your 5'5 would not be of use to me, so I wouldnt even buy a truck with a bed smaller then 6 ft (it would be a waste for me). but since you use your truck for other purposes i can see why your satisfied with your 5'5ft

lots of import have done 750,000 and more, its an amazing feat to accomplish but not one just held by your Dad's Blazer.

I'm sorry, but in another thread didn't you say you shouldn't worry about mpg if you're buying a truck? Well if I'm buying a truck, I'm not worried about power options, leather wrapped anything, or a keypad. Just more stuff to go wrong when it's actually a truck.

As do all trucks. They have ground clearance, a bed, and a cab.

That's a truck.

Now, I'm not saying they all look good, but to say the look like cars is goofy lol.

Fords IMO look the most "boxy" and best looking in my mind. And that's not just cause I'm a ford guy.
Idk bout that...have you seen the Chevy avalanche? or the Honda ridgeline? Im sorry a bed does not a truck make haha
