I bought a low-end weedeater last month. Make sure you mix your gas and oil in the correct ratio. Drain the gas over the winter.

My string trimmer has the curved shaft -I should have bought the straight shaft model - much easier to get under the trees and bushes.

Used it continuously for about 10-15 min yeaterday evening, found my hands and fingers buzzing a little from the vibration. Next time I'll wear my gloves...

oh yeah, i run all my motors completely out of fuel for over-the-winter storage. funny think is that i haven't had a problem leaving fuel in it before, but the pros say to get all fuel out...so i don't question it. everything starts right up come spring.

I've been doing that for years. I learned the hard way when varnish built up in the carb for lawnmower. I had to tear the thing apart and spray every orifice with carb cleaner before it would run correctly again.

Many will probably disagree with me on this but I change the oil every fall as well so that it doesn't sit all winter with all the combustion by products sitting in the crankcase all winter either. The reason I say that is there are those who leave theirs sitting out all year round and have never changed the oil or the spark plug ans swear they never had a problem.

Well I went and picked up a 25cc straight shaft Troy-bilt. I'll test it out today or tomorrow. I have some serious trimming ahead of me. Yard hasn't been trimmed in about 2 months. It'll be a good test for it. If not I'll take it back and look at the 27cc or something else.

I just bought the Troy-Bilt 27CC curved shaft. Wish I went for the straight..but curved was cheaper at the time, and money is tight. This thing has gone through EVERYTHING. My back yard was knee high..spent and after noon trimming then mowing. It went through 2 tanks no problem, didn't even choke. If you follow their start up procedure in the manual, it starts every damn time.

Me being lazy, I also bought the drill attachment for those times it won't start..throw the bit in a drill and pull the trigger then it starts right up.

I work at a golf course so i spend about 20 hours a week weedwacking there and about another 5-10 for sidework. At work we have a husky, at home i have a stihl, husky is more comftorble to run but my stihl 55 has WAYYYYYY more power. Can cut heavy brush with the sthil. So just around the house husky but if your gonna be cutting goldenrod and heavy thick grass STIHL!!!!

----------

And deff get a straight shaft, curve shafts suck, cant reach under pinetrees as far.
