Default Considering a full size

Alright so now that I'm graduated and on the verge of having a good paying job. I've been considering a new truck

**The Ranger is staying I'm not selling it or trading it in**

Here are the vehicles I'm contemplating

USED:
98-08 Ford F150 Crew Cab 5.4L

NEW:
Chevy Silverado 1500 LT Crew Cab 5.3L
Ford F150 FX4 Crew Cab 5.0L

I don't want to hear Chevy flaming, I have a friend who just bought a 2011 Silverado LT and loves it, plus I just test drove one yesterday and I like it too

I drove the Ecoboost F150 and didn't like it, but it was a 2012 Crew Cab, so I got to see how it rode and the interior. I still need to drive the older generation F150's though

Things I liked:
Ford: More interior room in the back, I'm a Ford guy, so I just generally liked the truck, rode excellent, great driver view in front and around the truck

Chevy: Love the dash layout and how the info center is set up, seats were more comfortable, engine sounded better (compared to the Ecoboost)

Things I didn't like:
Ford: That stupid LCD screen in the middle, completely distracting - I feel this is worse than texting, seats weren't that comfortable (but much better than my Ranger)

Chevy: I've always been a Ford guy, DRL's, little less room in the back seats, but I could sit comfortably

I want to hear everyone's opinion, but I want to keep it honest and unbiased. Until I drive the other model Ford's I am currently leaning toward the Chevy

Did you ever think about a nissan titan. I have been looking at them and man they are so nice! I love the tailgate thing they did with it.

I absolutely hate the huge chrome grill on the F150, or the big taillights

have you thought about diesel? You could snag a real nice 00-02 F-2/350 with the 7.3 for a reasonable price.

My original plan was to get a Superduty diesel. My dad already has a 99 7.3L and told me if I bought a half ton, then I could use his diesel anytime I wanted for hauling big loads

Owning one myself wouldn't make a lot of sense since I don't haul enough loads to use it properly, diesels shouldn't be mall crawled too much. Plus diesel fuel prices keep rising making it an even more expensive investment

I looked at them, but I don't know a lot about them, I am willing to drive and test one out though
i would narrow my choice to
1-the new Hemi Ram
2-Nissan Titan
3-Ford 5L.

but thats me. I like the looks, comfort and power of the Ram
the Reliability and the sporty handling feel, and reliability of the Titan
and I like the interior and the sound of the 5L, but to dish out something like $36,000 on a fullsize, Id go dodge or a slightly used Titan

The only F150 I want is the FX4 and that runs around 42K. But I could buy an XLT and just change the grill.

I haven't driven a new Ram yet, I do think it looks a lot better

Hey man, i hate to be a downer... but just a word of advice, you say you are about to graduate, you didnt say from college or highschool? But whatever it may be, until you HAVE that good paying job, and keep it for over 6 months, i would advise not going out and buying a new bigger truck, unless your'e already rich.
I have seen too many cases where people get a new job and start making more money, and they go off and buy that fancy new vehicle and nothing was wrong with their current/old vehicle, and then a year down the road, they lose their job, finances get hit hard, the economy sucks, and they end up loosing their nice new vehicle and end up getting an crappy older one that is more affordable, and is actually worse then their old car they had before they got the new one.

I have a close buddy, that had a 1995 dakota ext cab 4x4, nice truck, he never had any issues with it. Then after college he got a job at a Chevy Dealership as a salesman and etc.. 3 months into the job, he bought himself a 1 year old Chevy Silverado, 4 door, 4x4 truck, it was freaking sweet, he loved it. He got rid of his dakota.
Then a year later, the economy went to hell, and GM was going under, yep we all remember that, anyway he lost his job. Had to get a new one that paid way less. He eventually lost his truck, and now he's driving a 1990 dodge rust bucket neon.

Like i said, i dont like to be negative nancy, just giving some advice.

As for the truck you like, yeah check out the Toyota's or maybe even a dodge. lol.
