Default Dodge Viper Crash 6-21-09

When we had the Ranger Meet down in Branson last year on the way there we came to a bad crash on the highway

Quote:
The photographer(Paul K. Logsdon) and about 10 others witnessed the driver (about 30yrs old) passing cars at an estimated speed of 130 mph in the left lane. A driver unaware of the viper coming up fast went in to the left lane to pass a car causing the viper to go left into the medium from hitting the car passing. The viper lost control heading into on coming traffic hitting head-on the Honda CRV. The CRV driver woman was pinned and her baby was in a car seat. Baby was fine woman had no life threatening injuries. The Viper only hit the Honda CRV the other two cars. A ford 150 and unknown car connected trying to avoid the viper. The Driver of the Viper received a broken leg and possibly a broken jaw. His father owned the dealership and had just got the car in and his son took it out for a drive never driving a Viper before. The Driver of the Ford truck was able to drive away from the scene.
I found pictures from the wreak today just surfing around the internet.

These are my pictures from sitting in traffic for 1.5 hours

These are pictures from someone at the scene

WTF? I understand wanting to go fast if you have a car like that - but not in the middle of traffic......

I've seen a few of these crashes in my 22 years of being in different fire departments and it's always the results of stupidity...........

I sure hope everyone else was okay, but I couldn't care less about the Viper *******. A grown man driving like a 16 year old kid in a stolen car gets no sympathy from me.

too tempted to speed? i have worked at several high end dealerships that handles such exotics at acura NSX, dodge vipers, porsche 911's, corvettes, jags, ferrari's, and there is a very fine line between driving them the correct way... this is a prime example on not driving it the right way

If that kid was mine I'd have shot the bastard. There is no reason to do that crap in traffic. 2 oclock on a back road go for it. I have driven a viper, they are fun as heck, but its way cooler to be the guy going slow looking at all the ladies that are looking at you then to nearly kill several people. Throw the book at him.

I don't mind if the idiot kills himself, but you or I or our family can be on that same highway and be in the cars he hit and that's where I WILL whip you arse in front of any cop that's willing to let me get a few good swings in before he cuffs me.

Are you sure they'd stop you?
