Works at the home Depot i operate lift trucks part time..... i go to college time majoring in HVAC/R service and install cant wait to get out in the field......worked the last two summers as an apprentice until school picked up again

Career bungee jumper...

During my junior year of high school I bailed and joined the service. I hated studying and did not like being confined so in all my 17-year old wisdom I joined the USMC. I was immediately confined and sent to classes.

So after four years in the crotch (1972-76) I thought I wanted to be a school teacher and got a degree in education.

Then I taught 2 semesters and swore to myself, "These kids don't need a teacher, they need the MARINES!!!" And I felt a calling to something else.

From there I went to grad school and did a degree in theology and counseling, and subsequently spent 20 years as a local church pastor. Along the way I became interested in career planning and organizational development.

In 1999 I left full time ministry and went "bi-vocational," serving smaller churches in part time roles and working as a corporate trainer. As an aside I'll note that when I drove up to job sites in a truck (instead of a Crown Vic or a Tahoe) my credibility immediately went up in the male oriented environments where I worked as a contract trainer.

Over time the external consultant role evolved into a career counselor and executive coaching practice. That was a lot of fun but somewhat chaotic. It's like lawyering or sales -- as long as you are working you are making great money, but if you are not doing billable time you will quickly starve.

Then in 2007 I went on staff at a mega church as an staff associate. The initial role as outreach & guest follow up (the ecclesiastical equivalent of customer service) and coordination of adult small groups. That role evolved to later include staff counselor and security liaison. Basically, I was in charge of those who greet you at the door and those who take you out at gunpoint if you act a fool. Life is filled, I would observe, with paradoxes.

Late in 2010 I was approached by a medium sized congregation about reentering full time ministry as their senior pastor. Initially I served as the interim, then after several months of mulling it over I accepted that role.

I'm enjoying it and the stability is plus. I do still carry a small slate of business and career coaching clients.

Ha! Yeah, I've burned the candle at both ends for almost 40 years, and most days I can feel the effects of it. A definite type A personality with both the positives ... and negatives.

But I'd rather go out wide open and living life to its fullest than sitting around swellin' up and just waiting to die. What else can I say?

Well mines pretty short for now haha Joined the US Army 11B my junior year and i get shipped to basic June 16th. So for now i've just been going to drill once a month.

I am a volunteer firefighter, going to university right now but switching to college next term in Ontario to do Police Foundations and hopefully get into the RCMP on my second try. I am a qualified Canadian Infantry Reservist, and I may be working at a zip tour company when this term ends, until I leave for Oshawa. Only reason I did not get into RCMP now is basically because I am too young.. 19 in september, so I will keep trying! I also am a shop hand at my fathers construction buisness which is the largest general contractor in the province. Yep, that summs it up.

I work at a pringting company. Canada;'s largest in fact.
we print MAgazines mostly, a few grocery flyers as well.

So I totally pulled a 180 in my whole career/life/education plans, about 3 months ago I got laid off from the dealership and realized computers just weren't my thing (i was terrible with them haha) and switched my degree major to Criminal Justice and I'm loving every second of it, I'm also got hired as a security guard at several of our local Procter and Gamble warehouses, I get to work in different environments everyday and it pays alot better than an office slave, Ive got a nice chunk o' change saved up for some much needed ranger mods/repairs that hopefully come very very soon

Work at menards, part time but get a good 33 hrs a week in, looking into going to work for a factory soon, making double what im making now, plus benefits.

Started a Welder-Fabrication apprenticeship a few years back, did all the schooling but couldn't find a shop willing to take on apprentices in Ottawa, spread manure on farms in the area, spent 6 months on farms in Australia driving tractors and vaccinating cattle, etc. Fell in love with machinery and am currently working as an apprentice heavy duty mechanic for John Deere; so far so good

I joined the Air Force straight out of high school, and served 4 years, with about a year of that time in Iraq. Decided the military wasnt what I wanted to do the rest of my life, so I got out. Now I drive a tow truck at night towing people who are illegaly parked. I patrol 2 college towns, one being Virginia Tech, the other being Radford University. Its a pretty laid back job. I get commision pay, so I can set my own hours off of what I need to make on my paycheck. And its not really back breaking work. I usually work from 10 at night till around 3 or 4 in the morning. But I dont consider it a job. I'm just doing what I love
