I've been planning to get into a little fly fishing here in the Smokies. I was looking a couple of St. Croix rods on Cabela's site, but they've sold out of the two I was looking at before I could make up my mind. I was looking at an 8 foot 4 or 5 weight, but couldn't decide on the 2 or 4 piece rod. Any of you guys recommend a good basic starter fly rod without breaking the bank?

I can't recommend a good starter fly rod, as I bought my first at K-mart, but I can tell you that it's all in the wrist, NOT the arm.. If you're moving your arm very much then you're doing it wrong. It's a simple flick of the wrist..

at sports authority they have a pretty nice starter fly rod with like 6 flys and the backing and fly line. i just bought it, its freakin' addicting. i'm gonna develop a way to shark fish with a fly rod
