I just got pulled over on Wednesday on my way to work. pig asked for license and reg and i also handed him my ccw. Shortly thereafter he asked me to step out and handcuffed me. Whats up with that?

It depends on the State and the Trooper. Some think they are lords over all. Some states like Illinois, are so anti-gun, it's insane. They don't have preemption, so any municipality can make up whatever rules they want. DON'T be caught with a firearm in Chicago, PERIOD.

With that being said, where is NWI? Also, how did you present that you had a firearm? Did you say you were carrying or that you had a gun? Was this while you were handing over your CC license or after he had a chance to digest the information? Presentation is everything, especially if you are the side of the road, at night and he hasn't had his coffee and donut yet.

I can be in Chicago @ Navy Pier in 35 minutes. Im just east of Chicago. I said i was carrying as I handed him the card. Then he asked me to step out and handcuffed me. Asked where the gun was and got it, then ran my record and all before letting me go.

I've heard stories about the Chicago Police. Being a firearm owner in Illinois is a tough thing. At least he let you go. If it were me and I had it all packed and locked away in a case, in the trunk, with my ccw, I would STILL end up in jail with trumped up charges and huge fines. YOU were lucky my friend. They love to rape and pilliage out of staters like me if they spot me on the road.

All the ccw sites I've been on tell people transporting firearms to drive AROUND the State of Illinois if at all possible.

I have been pulled over 3 times while carrying. been up front tell him where your weapon is and present the CPL first thing, and I have never had an issue. actually out of all the times I have been pulled over I only received 1 ticket. its amazing when they ask you what you did wrong if you are honest usually dont get a ticket.

Last time I got puller over I was super nice and respectful to the cop. And that guy was still a dick. he asked if I knew what I did wrong and I honestly said no, I cant see every litttle sign in downtown la while trying not to hit people in traffic. I got a $300 ticket plus traffic school for making a turn 3 minutes early. Fuck that guy. Moral of the story, being nice and respectful doesnt always help, sometime you just end up with a douche.

Right or wrong, you also have to look at this from the Cops side, even if you carry legal, they must protect themselves untile they verify who you are and if you are carrying legal. My Daughter is a cop in Del. ( a vice Cop now ), and things can get out of hand pretty fast. Would you stake your life on the words from a driver who you dont know, if they have a record or not, BUT do know that they are carrying a gun ? It's better to have a driver pissed off at you than to trust what the driver tells you and end up dead

Every situation depends on the cop pullin you over. Some are decent, some are know it all roadside lawyers that dont know shit other then you look like the guy who beat him up 30 yrs ago. Some states require you tell the cop you have a gun, some dont. Try gettin pulled over with 2 guns on your person, Full auto MP5K-PDW next to your leg, M16 in passenger seat, MP5 under seat and couple HK51's and AK74's in back. Think you have been harrased? Pisses cops off to see me drivin around with guns THEY can NOT own, i only have this problem when i go out of the surrounding areas, i sell MG's to all the PD's city, and county in the surrounding area.
