I am a diesel tech also. I would say it is by far the funniest job you could possibly have. Get ASE certified in areas and you will make a lot more money.

I work with a guy on occasion that went to some diesel tech place in Tenn. I am not sure if that is the same one though. He is very skilled. When we have things to do that require 2 people I try to get him.

Definately go for it man. It's not really that hard at all and you'll see alot more money in the long and short term if you're ASE certified. Plus diesel engines are alot easier to work on than most gasoline engines. Once you get in the later stages of your education, people start making job offers. In most cases with diesel engines, usually you'll be working for someone before you finish. There's an extremely high demand for diesel techs. That was the easiest part of the Ford F.A.C.T program I took at Nascar tech, the diesel engine section. It was a blast. If you don't do it and find yourself wanting to later on, you'll end up regretting your decision.
