Anybody from Bend, OR?
Im gonna be making a move out to either Bend, or Redmond Oregon soon, and would like to hear some opinions about the area.
How are the schools in Bend v. the schools in Redmond?
Any areas to stay away from?
anything helps!

Why are you moving from the beautiful state of Arizona to Oregon?

Well for starters, I should never be able to get a tan 2 days before Christmas.
I have only been down here for 11 months, and it has been 11 to many.
Originally from Olympia, WA, so I can deal with the cold.
I figure Bend would be my best choice.
Beautiful summers,
Snowy winters,
and about 300 days of sunshine.
Plus, I cannot stand all of the crime out here.
There should be no reason for my 11yr old brother to get a ride to ad from school when we live LITERALLY 100yds from it.
Its great the I can carry a pistol on my hip without any kind of permit, but it is not great that everyone else can too.
If anybody is thinking of moving out here, I highly reccommend staying as far away as possible. Maybe Payson or Flagstaff, but if you can speak English, and you arent looking to sell drugs, the Phoenix area is not for you.

Im not into city life,
there are 25 lakes within 20 miles of Bend,
Miles upon miles of trails to go wheelin on,
and a store called The Big R, which carries everything from Ammo, to Carhartt jackets, to lift kits. What more could you want?
Lol I just want a nice, small, and slow place to drop my roots.

Where would you reccommend going for any fishing, hunting spots, or good wheelin trails?

my gp's and some aunts and uncles and cousins live in Bend and my parents met there and went to high school there. I may soon be living there as well. I aboslutely love Central Oregon and the high desert. The winters, the summers, every season is beautiful. But, IMO, bend is growing up quite a bit. Few years ago was a big housing boom that's still going on to this day. Sorta sad seeing the tow getting closer and closer to our farm. But, that's life and progress of a hot spot town. Can't stand some of the types that move there from Cali or Portland or whatever...damn hippies complaining for people innertubing on the Deschutes in front of their house. Overall, the town is flourishing with growth. I love it there. Only thing I would miss is not having the beach close by like in the Valley.
