Video 1-more government intrusion and higher taxes
Video 2-good points about keeping battery tech in US, but what about recycling and environment impact.
Video 3-higher new car prices until demand ramps up. I won't be trading in anytime soon because even at $5 a gallon its still cheaper than the new car payments of a new hybrid and/or electric.

video 1-well whats better in your mind? higher price but stable and resistant to fluctuations AND more efficient new cars with same standards across the nation, not just state level, as well as less pollution and less funding terrorists, aka Saudi Arabia.
or
no government intervention, prices vary by 2 or more dollars in a matter of weeks, when OPEC, who mostly consists of enemies to the US, decides to cut flow of oil to US. our money going directly to Saudi princes who we know give money to Al Qaeda and other terrorist groups.
but hey! whatever is cheaper in the short term. long term is for me (only 19) to worry about, not you.

No I'm not against stabilizing prices and efficient vehicles, I'm against government intervention when the money taxed isn't used for it's intended purpose. The only state I'm aware of with different standards was CA and they even had to fight the government to keep those standards. What Ford whats is bailout without it being called a bailout. So basically he is saying if the government does this, we will succeed. I don't see Toyota, BMW, Hyundai and etc asking the government to do the same.

I used to live in CA where a lot of what they are talking about has already been attempted. Its a mess. CARB was even talking about no more black cars or front factory reflective tint on windshields because of the heat they create. There are resources here to be used but we can't drill here. Everyone will complain about the environment but that's being hypocritical because will drill and ruin their country but not ours (and its not only US companies using their land). Our security can be maintained with some common sense logical thinking. I know you're worried about the long run, so am I. We don't have the power grid to support electric vehicles. Depending on where you live your electric rates are really going to jump. Cars are expensive now and it will only get worse. There are other solutions out there, but we seem to be stuck on the hybrid/electric technologies.

I believe a national standard is the way to go. Much the same way i believe in a flat tax. However, I feel CA standards are often unreasonable. There is a middle ground somewhere. Bill Ford almost sounds like he wants something similar to PeMex though, which i dont really agree with.

I respect Bill Ford. I think the best thing he did was step down and hire Mulally who has done very well at the helm.
