Got an update on my truck for anybody who read my last post.
Frame is definitely bent. In addition to a bit of a buckle in the front left, my frame is bent into a diamond. Pretty badly. Frame has to be entirely pulled and mounted to a machine (at least two hours labor.) Minimum of ten hours to try to straighten it out with no guarantees of success. I'm looking at $2200 for the frame alone, not including the broken clock spring, shorts to the dash lights, airbags, bumper, or rear windshield. I wouldn't be able to fix ANY cosmetic damage...that part alone is between 6 and 8 grand, just for the cosmetic stuff, and I definitely can't afford that. Altogether I'm looking at at least $3000, give or take, with no guarantees that the frame can be fixed for certain. Bed is damaged irreversibly...it's not entirely unsafe, but the bolt on one side would have to be loosened so that the bed is closer to the cab on one side than the other. Tano cover has to be removed because if I hit a hard bump, the metal tabs that come up near the cab would smash the rear windshield again.
Truck has a $2000 trade in value according to blue book.
Do I fix it, or do I buy a car for now until I can finance a cleaner truck next year? What do I do??? I love my truck to death...it's supposed to be my project truck and I just put $1000 dollars into the tires a few months ago...worth fixing, or not? Help!
