i was very lucky then because i destroyed my truck and i hit a parked car. I'm thankful it wasn't someone's child i hit or I'd be in a concrete bunker still today.and the truck i was driving only had 13 thousand miles on it.

That sucks about your truck but definately good you didn't hurt someone. DUI's are no fun for you or the family I'm sure, and in your line of work either.

very true. i don't preach about drinking because if your gonna do it nothing i can say will change someone's mind. i just know what i've lost in life by drinking and it sucks now that i've looked back.

I drank more when I was 16-19 than I do now. I could have done a lot of stuff with the money I blew then. Makes me mad. But I never got an MIP or a DUI cuz my buddies and I always planned ahead. I still do lol And I'm glad you don't preach about it, that just makes people mad, they either get it or don't. If they don't I hope they get lucky and never hurt someone.

in 2001 i responded to a mva were a full sized dodge truck hit a caviler in the driver's side rear quarter panel and when i got on scene i found my girlfriend in that caviler and when i went to open the door i reached in to support her head and her head bounced off my right leg and rolled under the car. and this was dec 17. and i was gonna pop the question when i went to her parents for dinner. and she was pregnant at the time so that really hit me hard.

i'll tell you from my personal experience, no amount of counseling will ever help in something like that, i've learn to deal with my anger and pain my own way and not take it out on others.

That's part of the reason I was drinking, just lost and confused and mad at life. Now I have purpose now that I am almost done with my degree. Really straightened me out. I don't think counseling is quite as effective as it's touted to be. You have to want to come out of the hole you are in first before you can do anything productive, and by making someone sit and explain their issues would just piss me off. That's part of why I play with cars, you can yell and scream at the car all you want. You can hit it. It helps me release, and at the same time it won't hit back, (unless you drop a driveshaft on your head, that hurts) My trucks and my Buick are my escape.

It's unfortunate that not all people choose to seek out help before they do something like kill themselves or hurt others or drink themselves into oblivion.

I know cars and trucks are replacable. What I am saying is that's my way of getting away now instead of drinking. I almost had a kid a few years back, and she had a miscarriage, part of what sent me into drinking so much. She was important to me. Then that happened and no matter what I did all she did was push me away, so I left. I got all ration of crap cuz everyone believed her. Then her and I started talking again and she freaked saying I just up and left her. Drove me back to drinking. Now we are friends at least and we don't expect anything from each other but company every now and again. She has a kid with a different guy. The kids a cutie lol It's not easy losing someone like that, I know that my story doesn't compare but I do feel your pain.

That's all you can do. Smile at the good parts, frown at the bad. Build some close friends and some good memories. Take time to do what you love, not just what you need.

BTW I like the hood...
