Re: Huge fire at Ford dealership in my city
The fact that everyone was able to make it safely out of the building is the most important fact of this story. I did notice some points that I'm sure will be discussed in more detail. One, why was the nearest fire hydrant "several hundred feet away"? Two, why would a newer building have no active sprinklers? Three, I understand that accidents happen, but were the correct safety features followed? When draining gas from a vehicle, do the mechanics just drain the fuel into a regular gas container that we can buy at an auto parts store since a small spark or static electricity can produce the same type of fire shown in the video?

Mine have never done that.

That's all we ever used. Are you supposed to put it down the drain then?

You're a real piece of work aren't you? I know that some neighborhoods prohibit working on cars in people's garage's for fear that something like this can happen, but I would think dealers would be safer and have safe guards in place. When working on computers, experts say to use an antistatic wrist strap, I would think when draining a potentially explosive agent in the 21st century that something more technologically advanced other than a $7 gas can is used.
