Congrats on the engagement, but the whole asking her parents thing is dumb. If she's an adult, what say do they really have? Its just one of those goofy and unnecessary rituals...

I just asked the wife, she said yes, then we told everyone.

Congrats! Glad you asked the parents, I plan on doing the same thing if I ever bite the bullet and settle down! Shows a lot of respect, seriousness and cahones!

Its a respect thing, my brother in law asked my old man if he could marry my sister even though they lived together and were together 5 years, my dad gained a hell of alot of respect for him because he asked...Congrats on getting engaged man
