Same here, seeing all the robberies and drugs affect my hometown convinced me. This just shows all the risks that are out there and you never know when things can go wrong. I think this is before everyone carries tazers because I would've hit him with the non lethal action before he even went back to the truck. With the tazers, they just have to feel threatened to use them, to shoot a weapon has to be seen or you have to feel that your life is in absolute danger. He had no clue what was coming :/

Cop should of pulled his weapon when the guy started back at the truck and then proceeded to charge him and unload his mag into the guy when he started trying to get something from the truck.

50/50, When the officer drew his weapon originally, Bannan still lurched in his direction and was screaming to shoot him. This is deemed "implied understanding." not good enough to use lethal force but totally opens the reasoning to use such force if later deemed necessary. As soon as the man lurched in the face of an OOH weapon he knew who he was playing with, and the stakes (for lack of better phrase). When Bannan walked back to his vehicle after this altercation and his hands entered the vehicle, officers do have the permission to put him down. You would hope by proper bullet placement to legs but in heated situation I can only imagine the struggle to be accurate with a short sighted weapon. After several orders to show his hands and step away from car, after the original altercation and after he re entered his vehicle and then turned to face the officer, ! I ! would have put him down. That is me and my decision. Other officers feel differently. Kyle Deinkheller is buried in fountain head here in my county, Brevard. Money is not a worry to me, obviously since I plan on doing a civil service job. However as the old adage goes, dirty hands are the sign of a clean soul; and you cant buy that.

When alone and before situations boil over, UCF students in orange county here in florida are trained to actually enter our vehicles and withdraw from the situation. For lots of reasons but first and foremost you can still monitor the assailant and wait for backup. This situation would have ended a lot differently if 3 or 4 officers were on scene and distance was between the assailant and officer(s)

After distance is applied, 9 times out of 10 the assailant will try to move. Sadly, chases with backup involved are safer than an all out lead exchange. Again this is before gun fire was exchanged. But after gun fire is exchange we are taught to stand our ground if possible but an assault rifle vs a sidearm isnt much of a competition when bullet placement is nearly impossible

Thats a shotgun with a folding metal stock on the saddle bag; probably a Remington 870, or Mossberg 500.

A Carbine rifle such as the M-1 rifle is labeled as a machine gun. Say its full name. "M-1 carbine Semi-Automatic Machine Gun" Not bashing just informing.

Has that guy been executed yet? A 9mm versus a machine gun is really no contest. Plus after looking at the video, the machine gun was already loaded. Alot of vietnam vets tend to be either a little crazy, or they are skiddish of any loud popping sounds. My little brother found that out when he threw one of those poppers down and before we knew it, that old vietnam vet had turned every piece of furniture over and started screaming "Oh god,they're going to kill us all" repeatedly at the top of his lungs. All that triggered this incedent, was one of those poppers that you throw on the ground and you hear a loud snap. It's pretty bad when human beings just doing their job, get gunned down on the side of the road for a simple traffic stop. I would've shot him after the first confrontation, but not fatally. One in the shoulder, and the other in the leg on the opposite side.

@yeatzee - Law enforcement considers any semi automatic or automatic rifle or shoulder fired weapon to be a machine gun. now whether or not webster says so is different. I dont know what wikipedia says just what im taught. Irrelevant of what its categorized as, it is a very deadly weapon in the hands of a time bomb.

AND just for grins and giggles they make a fully automatic/select fire type of the M-1 carbine. whether or not this waste caste had one is ambiguous.

Yep. There are so many classifacations for this gun that it's not funny any more. Law Enforcement agencies across the country consider this weapon a machine gun mainly because of the magazine you see in the photo. They're trained to look for this paticualr feature along with a few others and when they see it, they consider it a machine gun. Webster dictionary calls it one thing, LEO's call it another thing and here's what wikipedia has to say about it:


Make a note of the highlighted terms in blue. You'll notice that fully automatic fire is one of those terms.
