Default 5 years: too late to re-waterproof leather hunting/work boots?

title says it all. google search comes up with care from the day u bought them, not from neglecting them for 5 years. seems now that when i walk thru wet dew covered grass, my boots get slightly damp especially at the top where the laces are so....is it too late to RE-waterproof them? they were waterproof at one point

these boots still have alot of life in them! idk how but they do

btw these are normal steel toe work/hunting boots

----------

oh and i do have waterproof rubber/some other material boots but they dont fit nearly as well or form to my ankles

Shouldn't be too late unless they have like gashes in them, ive had some like that before and it seemed to fix them pretty good.

dry them off and if they are leather like then first give them a good clean, dry, leather water proofing, dry, then and out door hunting water proofer, dry, and lastly a good boot waxing should on top should get them to stay for a few years, thats what i do to my boots, never had a problem

not very much they are just work boots lol i use warm socks but def not wool socks, havnt bought any lol i use hot chillys socks

----------

my other boots are much warmer but they are tall boots, they dont form to my leg and are very hard to lace up tight (no lace notches) and they are really more for waterfowl hunting but i still cant go deep in water lol

Never too late, and use some 3in1 oil on the sewn stitched seams-an old miners trick, for waterproofing.

if you used a silacon based waterproofer then you should stick with that.although all that could be worn off so you could probly use a wax based waterproofer.I usually clean them real good let them dry and then put the snow seal on them and then put them by the register so some heat will push it into the pours of the leather then wipe off the excess. it don't last real long but its easy enough to redo every so often.and my feet are always dry. I hate swamp foot.

if they are for hunting you would want to stay away from any stinky stuff that the deer could smell.
