Re: Thinking about buying this turd...
Yeah it's a 460 with 113xxx miles. I'm still mulling it over. For now I borrow my boss' Navigator to haul my horse around. But I hate driving that thing. It's crazy nice but makes me nervous driving it. It's a little too fancy for me. lol.
My other option is that my mom just bought a 2009 focus and is giving her 04 Explorer to my sister. Sister doesn't want something that big, so I could see if she'd be willing to trade me the Explorer for my Ranger.

$1700 for that truck as it sits, not a penny more.

Re: Thinking about buying this turd...
I'm gonna say no, find something else.
If anyone should have a say, it's me, since I own a 7th gen F-Series truck and all.
First off, the 460 was NOT offered in the F150 after 1979. Therefore this truck does not have the original engine. Was the 460 rebuilt before it was swapped in? Chances are, it wasn't. The truck is 28 years old. In 28 years, nearly every wire has aged, and chances are it was butchered by at least one previous owner. And in 28 years, most of the connectors are probably falling apart, and there's also a good chance that some of the ground straps are missing. Your friend fixed the body rust, but is there any frame rust? Shackles? Hangers? TTB bushings? The steering boxes in the older Fords are known for being looser than a main street prostitutes vagina, so can you handle very unresponsive steering if the steering box is original and one of the loose ones?
That should be some food for thought.
Personally, I would suggest looking for something else. In my experience, when you start out calling something a Turd, it's not gonna last too long.

Uh, it's a 1 ton, bud. Not only can you tell from the fender badge, but also from the fact that it's an 8 lug on a solid axle

Well to start off it's a 350, not a 150. But I know where you're coming from. I have no idea what all my friend had done as far as wiring and and all that. I know the frame is solid for sure.
It's definitely not a dream truck. I'm just looking for something for hauling.
I'd ideally love to find a 04+ 5.4 150, but I can't find any in my price range.

I know, right? Definitely don't miss filling up my old truck every three or four days. If I pick this thing up I definitely won't drive it much. Maybe once a week.

That's exactly why I sold my old truck. Driving a total of 2.5 hours every day, all highway and getting 10-12 mpg was NOT agreeing with my checking account.
Now I go to school much closer and get much better milage.

Yeah bet that hits your pocket hard, lol. But it's worth it for most people since you can do so much more with a truck than you can with a car.
