I just need to vent for a min... I have a spare room and I've had the ad on craigslist, facebook, and some roommate site that's supposed to be really good. I'm frustrated that I haven't gotten any bites on it... I've been proactive and actually contacting A LOT of people who have "room wanted" ads and what really pisses me off more than anything is these people ignore it. In some cases I'm pleading my case to them that my room might be worth looking at even though one or two parameters doesn't match what they're looking for. In other cases my room fits EXACTLY what they're looking for and in a couple my asking price for rent has been CHEAPER than what they listed. Of all the emails I've sent (probably close to 12-18) and all ads I've posted (probably 7 or so since people like to re-post on CL) I've gotten 3 responses... on person responded to my ad and ignored my timely response email... another person politely declined after my room isn't what she's looking for... and I have one person coming to look this weekend even though technically it's more than she wants to pay. I get that budgets are thin but I didn't think it'd be this tough... people looking for cheaper places to live possibly? More importantly, how much does it cost to send a "No Thanks" email to someone who responded to your housing wanted ad??

Anyone have ANY ideas how to make this go a little quicker?? Thanks!

OMG... these people have rediculous expectations.

"Need a place to stay. Will pay rent by doing yard work" do you know how big my yard would be to make it worth it to let you live there without paying a dime?!

I can't believe how many people want a room (sometimes their own bathroom too) in Seattle for $500 per month w/ utilities included... some of these also want the room FURNISHED!!

Also, when did we stop requiring deposits?! NO ONE wants to pay a freakin' deposit!!! haha WTF?!
