Million Mile E-250 Van finally died
Well, that 1997 E-250 down in Ohio finally died with 1,299,986-miles on the odometer. Original engine, most original parts and a rebuilt transmission. Had a 5.4L Modular Motor. And to think that some people feel they have to get rid of their 2 year old car with 10,000 miles.
Here's the guys website, doesn't say about it croaking yet, but it talks about the van. http://www.millionmilevan.com/
This is the death announcement, and also the "comment on the day" entitles Saab Sonnet. Good poetry. http://jalopnik.com/5836726/cotd-the...+mile-ford-van

Re: Million Mile E-250 Van finally died
Those late 90's engines last forever. My 1998 4.6 v8 had over 300,000 on it when I traded it in and still ran like a champ. Nowhere near a million, but still pretty substantial.

It's a bloody car!!! It's unibody and front wheel drive. In my book, THAT MAKES IT A CAR. I always correct people when they call it a truck. I wouldn't drive that POS if if they paid me.

I dono, if somebody paid me to drive anything, I probably would. I did hear though that after you reach a certain speed in those Ridgelines, a penis will pop out in the middle of the steering wheel and cum in your mouth....just what I've heard.

Wrong, they call it 4 wheel drive but in actuality it is a AWD system. It has no transfer case. It sends power to the front wheels and when it detects that you need power going to the back it send power that way. When you get in a "low traction situation" you CAN manually lock the rear diff, but once you hit 18mph it unlocks by it self and the computer takes over again. When the rear is locked it will only send up to 70% of the power to the rear wheels.
They are basically using that fact that most people are very uninformed about the difference between all-wheel and four wheel drive as a marketing ploy to make their jumbo el'camino look good.
