I have to agree, I have no sympathy for you when you say you are barley getting by but you have a new truck with large payment and a list of mods in your sig.

If money is that tight then you shouldn't have financed a vehicle, or if it was fine before but things got rough, well then sell it and get something cheap. Buy it cheap on CL and make it work.

As for the food stamps, Some people do truly need the help. The problem is that there are too many on government programs that don't need it. They are fully capable to go and work, they just choose not to.
I also have to agree with the no junk foods, candy, soda/pop, etc on food stamps. If it is so bad that you need gov. help to buy food then you should be buying bread, pasta, fruit, veggies etc. The essentials to get by. NOT crap that does nothing to nourish you.

If people want to buy new trucks, and barley get by, more power to them. As long as they aren't using up government assistance. We all bitch about stuff.

I for one know, and can handle, statistics about different races being on government assistance. However, most people get butt hurt about it and start e-thugging it. Then good threads get closed down.

food stamps are a state provided assistance for low income people/familys. In general it is abused. There are people who do need it. Most that have the assistance fall under these conditions. 1) single mom with 1 or more kids, works a minimum paying job(s) and literally can not afford to eat. 2) single mom with 1 or more kids, who is still with baby daddy that works a cash job, this way there is no tracable income and they get the assistance. 3) single males (with or without kids) that dont work, or work a cash job. 4) male or female who dont work, work minimum wage job, or cash job and sell drugs on the side. These folks are generally seen at the DHS office, pulling up in blinged out caddys with big ass rims.

Then, there is the family that mom and dad both work, got layed off or lost their jobs (due to michigans business tax driving business away) and can not find any work. Sometimes they go back to school while getting unemployment and food assistance, these people are trying to better themselves and get back to work. Because most people dont want the handout.

For those who are saying veterans get FREE medical and dental and other benefits! Well let me say you are miss informed – we do not get free anything – we pay taxes, we pay for our medical and dental insurance just like our civilian counter parts (yes it is a reduced rate), but we still pay for it. As for retired veterans as I am of 25 yrs I still pay taxes out of my retirement as well as my FREE health insurance. Each month they take money out to pay for my medical and life insurance I also have a co-pay as many other medical insurance carriers.

As for food support/stamps it is a form of welfare no matter what name you give it and should be regulated more than it is. No one is saying you can’t buy food with it or people with broken legs can’t get them fixed but food with nutritional value should all ways be on the menu. More like WIC then just food – eggs, milk, bread, meat, cereal any kind, but I agree if someone gets food help from the government/state it is for food not twinkles and donuts.

I dont think anyone said anything about veterans getting "free" medical. They should get the best medical in the world..for free. I for one hate how veterans are shit on. Its not right.

Food stamps, yes.
I used them for a short period back in the 80's. Couple of months.
I was grateful for the help while getting back on my feet.
