when i had my e350 in the shop i walked down the street to get coffee and went buy 4 or 5 dealers on my side of street not one used ford on the lots NOT ONE!(trucks that is)
and every lot there had at least 5 trucks of different makes ! so when i got back to the dealer to pickup my van i noticed even ford did not have any used ford trucks on the lot? why? it dawned on me fords are so much better than the others (dodge gmc chevy Toyota) no one wants to get ride of a ford! and every one wants out of the others ! look at your local dealerships and ill bet fords are rarer than any other make on the used lots! as trucks go didnt look at the cars

theres a lot of rangers on use lots here, mainly because their fleet vehicles that are passed their prime and the companies sell them for cheap. you can tell because their all white, singlecab, 2.3 L, fleet side bed with all manual options and marks from where the company logo was.

Yo, I'm that "someone" who said we're a niche group. You misunderstood my point.
Wherever you live, however many Rangers you see, I see more. I'm in Detroit, and this is Ford Country in every possible way. Fords DOMINATE here, not just Rangers and F-Series, I mean everything. On any given day you can find yourself cruising alongside a Ford GT supercar, or a Model T, or anything in between. You can't go more than a few seconds here without seeing Rangers. They're everywhere.
When I made the point that we (everyone here on FRF or any other Ranger forum) are a niche, I mean we take the Ranger way more seriously than average Joe does in his Ranger. Here, we're all in love with the truck. We mod them, we wheel them, we lift them, we do engine swaps, big tires, join forums to talk about them, etc.
That's what puts us in the minority. The overwhelming majority of Rangers (or any vehicle) are going to live their whole lives totally stock. How many of those Rangers that you see are 4x4? How many have lifts and oversize tires, or dropped? How many do see that have actually seen any type of off road driving? Now there's probably country boys who may say that a lot of Rangers in their area are lifted or whatever, but that's not a representation of the masses - those guys are part of our niche, too.
I'll look for links if you'd like, but I have even heard Ford executives say that most Ranger owners don't even use them for truck tasks. Most are bought simply to be driven from points A to B. Most people couldn't care less whether their Ranger has t-bars or coils, 7.5" axle or 8.8 or whatever other things that we care about.
If Ford suddenly decided they want to keep making the current truck for another 20 years, that's fine. What I like about the current Ranger is that it's simple, all business and no frills, and it's one of the best off road trucks right out of the box. But it's still tiny and unsophisticated. Not many of us seem to like the current Tacoma/Dakota/Colorado, but there's no denying that they have much more modern technology/sophistication and more bells/whistles for the money.
It's inevitable that the Ranger as we know it is going to die eventually. I hope the new truck keeps some of the things we like about them, but I don't expect it to cater to the wheeling crowd like this truck does. Out of all the things we'd like to see, we'll get a 4-door, but that may be about it.

One thing I have noticed is the more rangers on the road newer style 04+ in the past 2 years.
One supervisor traded his f150 FX4 for a 2005 FX4 3 years ago. He said main reason was the F150 was to big for what he did, but he still needed a truck that got good MPG that could haul stuff.
One reason going for the ranger was other trucks were just to much compaired to the ranger.
YA there are several in a 10 mile radius of my house. I once told a guy of this forum, and he said he may check it out, but doubt he would cause he wasn't into modifying his truck.
I would say the majority of people on FRF or any other forum are into modding as the others are just here for info on keeping their investment running good

Wasn't the MSRP on an FX4 (when they still made FX4's) over $26K? How much more would a comparable truck by another brand run? All I know is there was know way I was going to pay that much money for a brand new Ranger.
But the good thing is that even after the current Ranger is dead, there are so damn many of them out there that finding one in great shape with low miles shouldn't be a problem for at least a few years.

I see a lot of fleet rangers in my area. otherwise I see a lot of Dakotas, S10's, and toyotas. When gas prices hit a high, people went after thee small cars.

Now if Ford could just sell the football team to someone who knows how to run a football team business (For all us loyal Lion's fans!). My one hope died (Former Pistons owner).

GM does it's share of advertising right next door to Ford Field at Comerica Park where the Tigers play. Actually these days, they get to advertise for free.
A giant fountain behind center field is set off whenever the Tigers score, and also between innings, with bursts of water also referred to as Liquid Fireworks. The water show is also played pregame and postgame, and can be set to music. General Motors sponsored the fountain and held the naming rights from 2000-2008. Two GM vehicles were placed atop the fountain during that time. For the 2009 season, the fountain sponsorship was dropped by GM, due to their financial trouble. The Tigers decided to keep the General Motors logo on the fountain however, and also added the logos of Chrysler and Ford, with the statement "The Detroit Tigers Support Our Automakers".
On the right side of the picture you can see a little piece of Ford Field.
