It depends what your doing. For a truck for offroad as in mudding, snow, rocks, etc. Probably the new Ram 2500/3500 Powerwagon. Thing thing is built pretty good for the slower speed offroading. For desert running and dirt sand stuff. The SVT Raptor and Ram Runner conversion are probably the two best.

Baja. no h's. and the one that finished "bahah" was fully caged front to rear, which greatly helped prevent bending. that was a quick google search, but next time i'm at that shop i'll see if their trucks are still bent up, and search some raptor forums for ya

It's a common problem that people will fuck up and then blame the company. Have you see the high speed driver in the desert who bent his? Takes a real moron to go full speed on a course he is not familiar with.

If people don't do it with highly modified race trucks, what makes you think a 60k street legal one will fare better?

In any case, i change my vote, i'll vote for that truck instead.

i'm not saying who's fault it is, i'm saying that the 'ultimate' off road truck shouldn't look like a taco. sure, some of them are from misuse from inexperienced drivers, but then again there are others who know what they're doing and what the truck is capable of, and the frame still bends.

Well, if you are looking to keep in a similar size class as the Ranger and aren't looking at another Ranger, then I would suggest either the Tacoma or the Frontier. Based on you previous comments about trails being tight. A short bed F-150 would be the next choice if you want something a little bigger, though I must admit that the Raptor does have it's appeal if the price isn't an issue...

Well ford engineers already found the reason of bent frames, its no secret to anyone.

As for ultimate, you'd better redo your homework. We're not talking Raptor XT, or even Velociraptor, but rather of the base model. Which those guys were driving like fully custom and non street legal race trucks that are worth much more and, which we all know, always break.

To me everything breaks, its just a matter of when.

I've done homework and been in a raptor. In my opinion the velociraptor is worse than the regular of the lot version. All that power doesn't mean shit if you're limited by small travel numbers and cast lower control arms. They're cool though, that name is intimidating, but just another way for rich old people to get a truck they'll never use to it's potential.

But besides the frame bending, the raptor has to be one of the best off the lot off road capable trucks. We'll see how the ram tuner package compares though.
