"Refresh" brand air freshener damage.

About a week ago, I bought one of those vent air fresheners from Target that just clip into your vent for my Chevy. When I hopped into it today, I found this:

Which then resulted in this:

At first I thought the liquid had just dripped down and then dried up, resulting in it feeling flaky and such, but it actually melted the plastic on the bezel. So, I sent an e-mail to the company seeing what they plan to do. If nothing else, I guess I can just repaint it, but I think they should replace it, since the package says nothing about being exposed to heat (which I can honestly say it was since it was 95 the day before yesterday and yesterday was in the low 90's). We'll see what they say.

Just thought I would post this here thinking maybe a few of you might have these.

that sucks jim, i was just thinking about picking one up for the f150 too, good thing i seen this as it has been 30-40 C lately and my truck is black

same thing happened to a buddy of mine with one in his dorm room. room mate knocked it over on top of his printer and it puddled just like that and ruined the plastic

I'm guessing it just got hot and popped. Thank God I took the iPod and my other stuff out of the dash, otherwise it probably would look the same!

Apparently it's napalm, since it just burned the dash, lol. I really don't feel like laughing about it, but there's nothing I can do yet until I hear back from the company.

Just got a call from the company. The lady said she is going to send me an e-mail that will offer a cash settlement, or they will pay for the new part. Either way, it sounds like I have to go get an estimate for them. Pretty stoked that they got back to me so quick and they are willing to work with me. Makes me actually want to use their products, lol!

Just got back from getting some quotes. Yeah, I think I'm gonna have them send me the check and I'll fix it myself. $181.18 from both a repair shop and the dealer, but the repair shop says they have to install it otherwise they warranty it, and they charge a minimum of $58 to do that. The lady said in her e-mail that they will send me $200, so I can use that for other things besides just a new dash bezel!

its sweet that teh company is willing to help you fix the problem more times than less they just give you the run around. i wonder if they wil change the warnings on there boxes cause of this

An air freshener called the "car jar" did that to the same thing in one of my family members mustang
