Bye Bye Tank...
Well my dad signed the papers on a 2002 Jeep Liberty Sport 4x4 3.7L V6 with 53000 miles today. Went into the dealer to look at a minivan we saw there as we passed by, Came home, went back and bought the Jeep. Trading in the old 1997 GMC Safari(which i called The Tank) for it on Thursday. I'll get some pics up of it with the Ranger once we get it. Asking price was 10,900 ended up paying 9,256.50. It's a nice looking SUV, Anyone have an experiences with them?

Re: Bye Bye Tank...
I talked to a guy at work who had one because my girlfriend was looking at one as her first car. He had to replace the engine in his, and a buddy of his had to replace the engine of his Dodge Dakota (3.7 V6), right around 100K.

Yeah, well i still have my Ranger, and my dad wanted an SUV or a van. MPG wise it should get about the same as the GMC Safari did. (16city 20 highway)
The reliability issue doesn't really concern me to much, I've read some of the other reviews and most seem positive. Every model has a few that are troublesome. How they are driven also plays into account. This one appears to have been taken care of and we have a rough idea of who the previous owner was. If we are right, it was babied.

Re: Bye Bye Tank...
I think my brother had the 3.7L in his Dakota. The repair bills were killing him so he dumped it for a Titan. Now the gas bill is killing him. LOL

Re: Bye Bye Tank...
Watch out for the cam and valve springs. The spring broke in my moms even though the internals all looked new. Only had 60k.

Re: Bye Bye Tank...
Went and picked it up today. Looks and runs like a champ so far. Previous owner had 3 of them and traded this one in for a Chevy Colorado so he could haul more stuff. Doesn't appear to be abused at all. So far I really like it, as does my dad.
Had to get a pic of it with the Ranger.
