Truly is a sad thing that has happened..

I can't believe some of the moronic comments attached to that story.
The guy was arrested 40 times in the last 17 years and he isn't in jail.....thanks to our criminal justice system.
Some idiots stating the driver might have had a medical condition.........arrested 40 times including DUI/drug arrests and a revoked license. He was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Driving with no seatbelt is inexcusable and even more dangerous in a vehicle with an airbag.
There is a bill in the Florida State Legislature that makes texting while driving a reckless driving citation and automatic 1 year revocation of your DL. Doubt if it will pass though.
Sad to see a young girl die because of a career loser and his DUI tendencies.
Florida is a bad state to drive in and there was a study done........50% of Florida drivers are way underinsured or uninsured.

i noticed one of the comments saying he might of turned down the wrong way and he didn't realize it. that is completely wrong. its 2 lanes going north and 2 going south. one long straight away. The article says neither wore a seat belt, I was told this is not true by the mother. she was told they had to cut her out of the ranger.. Also, the texting thing would be a good one.

Having to be extricated is not an indication of a seatbelt being worn or not. You/she/whoever is assuming that simply because she was still in the truck, she must have been seatbelted. An unbelted occupant being ejected is rare and not an indication of a belt or not.

Sadly, it may have been survivable with a seatbelt on.

A friend of mine was driving a 2006 Ranger down SR 46 in Brevard country and someone crossed the center line and forced him off road and into a pine tree at 50-60 mph........the airbag deployed and he was sore as hell and the airbag broke both his wrists, but he survived and walked away. Rangers are very safe vehicles but when you have to be cut out of one...........really bad.
If you have you hands holding the steering wheel in an unusual way it'll break your wrists or arms...maybe both.......hold the wheel at 10 and 2 oclock positions.
The newspaper story writer could have done a better job on research...........of course Fox News and MSNBC put out some stories before the facts are known too.
Innocent driver killed because of our screwed up justice system. I am willing to bet the farm that everyone of those arrests were pled out in the criminals favor.

i dont think not having a seatbelt on is doing everything right.

From my own personal experience with losing people you care about... There will be more maybes, mights, could bes, and what ifs than you can count. Don't get hung up on them or dwell on them. Time will tell what really happened with facts and dwelling on maybes or what ifs make it harder.

I understand that. But it doesn't matter who tells you. Unless the police accident reconstruction team has completed their investigation and provided the report to whoever is telling you information, you're hearing hearsay and unsubstantiated guesses. All it will do is make it more difficult. Because tomorrow, some new "information" will come out that contradict what you heard today.
