I have owned both revolvers and semi-auto pistols and both have their advantages and disadvantages. However, I like a revolver a little more than a semi because of its simplicity. Point, squeeze trigger, repeat.

If you have the time to spend at the firing range and get use to how it feeds and handles different brands of ammo, then a semi is a fantastic firearm. In a semi, I would go with a a Glock.

OTOH, a revolver is dead simple to use! I would go with a .38 Special that is +P rated or a .357. I have owned several new Taurus wheel guns in the past five years and I have never had a single problem. The Taurus CIA 850 .38 Special Stainless Steel Revolver would be a fantastic EDC revolver. I'm only 5'5" and 160lbs. and I can EDC a small/medium frame .38 with no problems.

I have never fired one, but the Taurus Judge looks like it would really get the job done in a close range situation. How would you like to be a bad guy on the wrong side of this gun at 1:40 in the video. One dead son of a bitch carjacker!! However, For EDC it is too big, but it would be a great bedside or glove compartment firearm.

Really all depends on what you want to spend. Im only 20 so I cant conceal carry but if I open carry I like my sig 226 40 cal, but I also have a Walther p99 that I really like and my newest addition is my Ruger sr9 that shoots very well and it super easy to maintain. If you want an ultra compact I have heard some good things about the new Ruger LC9.

It depends on how concealed you want it, too. I have a Springfield XD40 SC and love it but it it a little too big for me to carry unless I am wearing a jacket. Which happens twice a year here in Tampa. I am looking into the S&W Bodyguard 380 once they start shipping them again. It has all the features of a larger gun but in a smaller package. Very easy to conceal and shoots a nice grouping. I would rather carry my XD but it just doesn't happen often. I keep in the truck most of the time.

I carry a ruger sr9c, p95 or Glock 17. My personal favorite is the sr9c. My next purchase for carry will most likely be a wheelgun, in 38 or 357+p. OR a pocket gun similar to a keltec or a ruger lcp.
no need to get the lcp when the lc9 is out. 9mm with one more round capacity & very little size difference

An automatic pistol is slimmer and easier to conceal than a revolver but there is merit to the argument on the revolver's simplicity.

Personally, I wouldn't go any smaller than .40 but would prefer .45ACP. You can get a pretty compact pistol in .45ACP. The smaller Judges would be a good choice too, though a bit more bulky for carry.

As far as magazine capacity, I wouldn't worry about that so much. If you need more than five or six shots for personal defense, you have bigger problems going on and chances are you won't get them all fired before being taken down by whomever you are shooting at.

THe advantage of a larger round is that you have a better chance of "one shot, one kill" over a .380 or 9mm. Not that either round is bad. It's just that if you are up against someone hopped up on drugs, there is a chance a .380 or 9mm won't take them down with the first shot. History has shown this in Manilla when the Army was armed with .38 caliber pistols.

NOOO!! Don't get a high point as a carry gun!!!! I have shot a few of them they do not always go bang when you pull the trigger and they will start having issues after time.

Yes Kel Tec is good too.

I'm sorry to keep pushing not to get a High Point but it sucks to be in a situation where you need a weapon to fire and it doesn't doesn't mean squat if you can take it back if you are dead.
