Default Mobil 1 vs Castrol Edge

Do any of you have any technical data on which oil is better - Mobil 1 or Castrol Edge. Both say 15,000 muiles between drain and cost at my auto store is identical

Honestly...modern synthetics...go for either. They are both as good. I would point out from factory some 50 manufacturers put in Mobil 1. But I have used both in my truck. They both work great.

I just can't imagine there could be much of a difference though in any type of synthetic. Which ever is cheapest.

the biggest thing you will find is additives. So called "high mileage" oils typically have more detergent in them, as well as something to cause the seals to swell depending on the seal. The "5000" mile, 7500, and 10,000 mile oils have more detergent. Really, they are all made the same, use a NAME BRAND synthetic, not the cheap store brand, as they are often a little misleading on claims. But really, castrol, penzoil, AMSoil, Mobil 1...go for it. I too a class on fuels and lubricants for my degree (I have a bachelor of science Diesel Technology), and that was really the only difference in them. They are all decent oils. It comes down more to preference. I chose mine because Castrol has never let me down, and Mobil 1 is a factory favorite of many OEM's. That's what I chose.

In the late 70s - early 80s in suthun caliscrewy, I ran Jojoba Bean Oil (because it was CHEAP) in a straight 6, Automatic (C4) Ford Maverick.
Think I changed the oil filter like twice in a year.
Haven't seen such "oil" on the East Coast, not that eye wood uz it.
- - -
Last oil change I used Motorcraft Blend 5W-30 and a Purolator Filter.

Dollar General seems to sell some Brand named Oils.
Havoline is a Brand name.

Its hard to say oil back then would work today. Comparing motors from then to now..Also comapring oil from then to now...I didnt start buyin oil till 98. (i was 16) Synthetic oil is man made. then theres petroleum oil. ETC ETC BLAH BLAH BLAH. I know for a fact tho Synthetic is great! i was using a quart a month in my previous car( giver or take) Then i switched to synthetic and i no longer needed to top off.
