Well I can tell you exactly how that happened since I've seen it first hand. (yes, I'm bored and did my own arm chair reconstruction...)

RT322 at the that off ramp has a metal guardrail that slopes down to the ground directly into the the "V" that the off ramp forms. There are ABS braking and strafing skid marks going from the left lane across the right lane, missing the off ramp by about 15ft and right into the middle of the V. The end of the guardrail sloping down to the ground acted like a jump and it probably also tore the gas tank open. This launched the car into the air above the embankment the guardrail was protecting where it struck several tree trunks which essentially obliterated the car. The torn open gas tank spilled fuel, hot exhaust/engine/electrical sparked the fire of probably 10-15 gallons of gasoline all over the place.

Based on past experience... a vehicle launching off the sloped guardrail doesn't take excessive speed. However, launching off of it after leaving 100ft of skid marks and turning the car into a mangled heap scrap takes 80-90mph or more. The vehicle was a 2007 Porsche, so I think it was quite capable of it.

Alcohol, who knows. Based on the pictures of him drinking a few hours earlier, most likely. However, at the speed they had to be going to do that, a sober person could easily have misjudged the ramp and tried to make it. Stupid is a factor in either case.

im still in shock, i couldnt believe it when i heard it on the radio this morning, and i refused to believe it until i got on the net and did some searches, its really sad to see such a great entertainer go. i believe it was on viva la bam somewhere where april margera had stated that she knew that was the way he was gonna go and they all knew it was just a matter of time, because he had to have the fastest cars and drive them to their potential... i know ill miss him, and i know it will be the end of jack-ass...

I'm sorry, but I feel absolutely no sympathy for him if he was the driver. They are saying that there was possibly another person in the car, bringing the death toll to three. Two people died because one idiot had to be fast in his car/drink and drive. I feel bad for the other two riders and all of their families (Including Dunn's), but definitely not for him.
