We can Talk and drive here in VA, we just cant Text and drive. I dont really do both. All I do is take Pictures on my phone while driving.

On military bases you cant talk unless you use bluetooth. and DC is the same way.

Yep that's what I been saying. If they see you text while driving look out. I watched 2 people get ticketed yesterday for it. Both of them barely looked old enough to drive.

Your dad is not prohibited from using the phone while he drives. If your dad's business fails, it will be his own fault for not buying a headset and using it like everyone else.....

People talking on their phones while driving has become one of my biggest pet peeves. I see more near accidents and wreckless driving incidents when the driver is either texting or talking on their cell phone (or a woman. lol) than anything else. You have ONE responsibly while behind the wheel of a motor vehicle and that is to DRIVE! Ive become more and more anal about this in the recent years, especially after a young girl with her baby in the car slammed into a tree in my front yard because she missed the curve because was texting. I used to talk on the phone all the time while I was driving and I caught myself on a few occasions drifting in my lane and just being careless but Ive since swore off talking and driving. I will use a hands free occasionally but even then there is still a level of distraction. I was happy when Michigan passed the no texting law and I hope they extend ot to talking on the phone too.

You got that right. I invested in a wired head set when I drove for swift because it got to where I was always on the phone with them over something concerning either my pay or the lack of info on the load I was to pick up. When you got 80K pounds behind you it makes you see a different perspective on things. I spent 2 years of my life training for that paticular job on various types of simulated road conditions and skid pads, and I think it's safe to say that I am a professional driver after doing that for 9 years before I retired from it. That is one of the biggest problems I've seen yet to date. The texting has really gotten bad and worse than actually talking on the phone. I've had so many close calls that it's just not funny anymore. Well, I'm about to go and get some gas at $3.37 a gallon for my truck after I respond to a few more threads. So i'll see you guys later on today.

ask yourself this question - "can I go a whole day without using my cell phone?"
more people would rather give up drugs and alcohol for a month, than would give up their cell phone for ONE day.
I really hope that they ban ALL cell phone use in all vehicles UNLESS that vehicle is stopped and the engine is turned off.
I agree with you so much! I just barely turned 17 on Friday, have barely had my license for 2 years, and I am not just like about any teenager in my town, who do text and drive!

Then the cop and a few others who also witnessed this incedent said what the other driver did was pure stupidity. The cat hasn't even had his DL for 2 weeks and already got a ticket for reckless driving, now that's bad. The cops here don't mind you talking on the phone period. But if they see you texting, look out.
But also, not all teenagers text and drive. It's just the stupid ones, whom don't really care about other people.
