Thanks everyone, I too har a very minor heart condition Richard, one of my valves don't close all the way so blood leaks back into my heart, it's not major ir life threatening but I do have to go and get my wary checked out every few years,

I just wanted to say I'm keeping you and your family in my prayers. I have had two open heart surgeries. And I do know God works miracles.

wow man, thats rough, thanks thou and glad to see you survived not one but two open heart surgeries, gives me a lil better feeling in my heart

Yeah, Dad has had heart disease since birth, and its slowly killing him. He's 64, so I am spending as much time as I can with him before he kicks the bucket

My dad has gone through the same thing dude. Its rough to go through but clearing those passages made him so much better. The COPD will always be there, but I am sure she will be feeling great once she recovers. If it helps any, I have seen many people with COPD stick around a very long time. My family and I give you our thoughts and prayers. Let us know how everything goes

It is rough, he has a couple diseases, one's killing him slow, the other could take him in .5 seconds flat. As much as he and I have butted heads over the years, he is one of my best friends and best people to go to for advice. I love the old man, I don't want to lose him any quicker then I have too. He's a hell of a man, I hope I do half of the great things he's done in life. I've lived very well under his watch for the 24 years I've been alive. I'm adopted, so he didn't have to take me in. He and my mother, took me and raised me, and helped make me a successful person. I love my real mother, very much. But if she hadn't given me up for adoption I wouldn't probably be in the same boat I am now. She was 19, Dad and Mom took me and raised me, and damned if they didn't do a good job.

In other news...my real mother is a nurse, I was asking her a few questions about COPD last night, the artery thing (like Clinton mentioned) will help immensely! As well as if your mother is careful about what she is around environmentally, and watches her health, she could easily live with the condition for decades without another issue from it. From the sounds of my Mother, as long as your Mother is careful...this isn't going to be as huge an issue, not a fun one, but not something that will eliminate her from living a full life and having fun. Hope this helps cheer you up a bit!

You've got my prayers dude. I've had 2 light heart attacks in the past and this disease that you spoke of, runs in my family. I hope that she pulls through. I hope everything goes extremely well during the surgery too. That's how I lost my Grandpa Davidson. He had an extremely bad heart and I never got to know him all that well either.

thanks gays, reasong my mom has the COPD is cause of smoking, she said she is gonna stop smoking, my dad also smokes but he is gonna quit also, he just told me he has 5 cigs left and hes done for good. thankfully i dont smoke. but i will keep you guys posted when i find out bits and pieces, she needs to start eating more foods with protein in em to make her stronger for the surgery, she has so many bruises, some of em are really nasty looking, i wish it was me instead of her but its not unfortunately.

Richard man i feel for ya, thats gotta be rough as hell what youre dad is and has gone through

same goes for you Clinton, but all of you guys talking about ya family and friends that have sirvived the heart surgeries and heart problems makes me feel so much better about my mom having surgery that and i know she in good care since she in one the best hospitals in the nation. im so glad i have all my ranger brothers and sisters, some dads too haha jk jk on this forum

I need to quit myself. I started when I was 6 years old. I regret it more than anything now. I turn 36 next month and in september, it will be 28 years of smoking for me. My uncle has Emphaszema (I can't spell it) and his lungs are just about gone due to Smoking and working in the coal feilds. They had him use that Epoxy Paint that the epa done away with for years. Navy vets call it "nuclear waste paint". That done more damage to him than anything else. He's going for his Black Lung benefits and his disability as we speak.
