Here's why it lasts alot longer when you do fill it up. Today's gasoline has anywhere from 10 to 15% ethanol in it. When you fill it up completely air can't get in there to cause the ethanol to evaporate. That causes you to "lose" some fuel if it evaporates in hot and humid climates. When you go to fill it up and the pump stops, slightly pull the nozzle out a bit to continue filling the tank. Just be careful when you do that cause it tends to spill on you a bit. Plus here's a little known fact about today's gasoline. They tend to change their formulas a bit to withstand climate changes such as hot, cold, and kool climates. Gasoline in the winter time will be alot different than it will be in the summer and fall seasons of the year. You see, you're new to the ranger's general quirks and habits. Each and everyone does have the same habits in general, but each one is also different in certain areas too. Give it time and get to know what you have, because the dealers do know about all of the tricks with the ranger that most first time buyers don't because they have to take project knowledge classes and do some in field testing and some written tests before they can become a dealer. Plus you do need to break it in some more.

Some places are like that. Some try to slow it down some to keep you there longer so you can buy something else, others are caused by the pump being old and worn out. Other's could have had new pumps installed. There can be several reasons really. My late grandfather showed me the ropes when he had a convience store for over 42 years when I was a kid. The hassles alone with the gasoline would make you go insane. Tree huggers stay on you just about all of the time (bastards), and worse the epa makes you update your equipment frequently too. Such as new pumps and tanks. Bring the bank when that occurs. Plus they also tend to set the prices for you on paper when you go to pay the fuel bill every other week or once a month.

It is a small possibility that the Dealership used regular gas and you're pumping 10% ethanol. its common knowledge that you do less mileage when ethanol is present, but I dont if the ethanol would give such a drastic effect like that. There are a lot factors regarding fuel economy such as break in stage, weather, wind, drivin style and maintenance. Since your truck is new I doubt its maintenance, but a comibination of gas, breaking in, driving style and weather factors.

its just weird that it started apporx a month ago, equipment doesnt seem new and its not just one particular pump since i almost never use the same one lol

Well alot of places do that. It's their way of getting you to spend more of your money and several other factors are involved.

I wouldn't sweat anything unless you're looking at a tank as a whole... my '08 burns the first 1/4 tank faster than the 2nd 1/4 and the second 1/2 lasts even longer... I think the needle is a little off.

Mine is the exact opposite. Once I get to a 1/2 of a tank it eats gas very badly. But when it's full the opposite occurs. But each truck has it's quirks and the key is finging out how you can manage these little quirks. For example. Mine doesn't mind interstate traveling at all, but the fuel economy goes down because of my rear gear ratios of 4.10:1. It loves inter city driving and local highways even better mpg wise, because I still have just enough torque to go through towns at 35 mph at 1,100 rpms and at 55 mph I'm barely at 2,000 rpms. So to help out with my fuel bill, I stay off the interstates and keep to local highways and I start out alot earlier so I'm not rushing to get there.
