Bummed Im not able to go this year I've had terrible luck the last couple times though, very very few dove around....and im kind of sick of getting peppered by stupid people out there. Im hoping next time I can just go to a friends property in the middle of no where..... that would be ideal.

On a similar note I just went trap shooting today, I've got the itch again

Been sick the past four days. This season sucks. I only have one dove after 4 hours. Next weekend hopefully,I will go someplace better and stay til nightfall. Winter season is always better and less sitting around being bored

well my trip completely sucked. 8 doves after 3 days of being out pretty much all day... and I was using my dads 12g citori, which ive never shot a 12g so I had pretty much no clue what I was doing.... good times.

and even though I didnt get to off road in my ranger I did in a Polarus ranger (I think thats what they are called) they are pretty sick tricked out golf carts/gators, and man can they haul off road, I put them through the test thats for sure.

Went out Saturday morning for 2 hours. Shot a box of shells and got 9. Used a mojo dove tree which helps out a lot I think. Its made out of pvc and has 4 regular dove decoys and 1 of the wing spinning mojos on top

yeah but for the place we go we normally limit in 2 or 3 hours at the most. I hear those mojos work magic, I might have to get me some.

ive hunted pheasant but have not gotten one yet lol

how do you hunt quail exactly? we saw quite a few while deer hunting but always on the gravel road. but whenever i walk into the brush, i never flush any up....

dude, thatd be fucking awesome! cant hunt private land with non family members but we could definitely do some public land hunts!

snipe cooks/prepares the same way as dove. i like it, it does have a gamey marshland taste which is why i sometimes soak them in water. they are harder too shoot than doves because they dont fly over you, ya gotta flush em on foot lol

you pretty much have to flush them up, but shooting them while on the ground isnt frowned upon like it is with other birds because the little suckers are hard to kill. I probably saw 200 easy last weekend, and they are all in massive cubbies.

hmmm now I want to try and hunt some snipe, thats kinda like how dove hunting felt last week, I had to find them and then flush them up and shoot.... it sucked lol.

yeah forsure! you have to go through gun safety and all of that to get a hunting license in CA though right? Ive always hunted out of state so idk... lol

yeah you do have to go thru all that but really the class is usually 2 days long (weekend) and like ten hours probably. really easy to get it done, or at least it used to be!

if you kill a snipe, dont freak out. they have white shit on their breats, its on all snipe and it is not bad. ill see if i can find a picture.

i really wish quail season started the same time as dove lol

----------

like this, but not all of them are fully white

In CA, there are 4 different quail zones and seasons. im in the balance of the state zone so i start, oct 20th-jan 27 (however, it has not officially been released yet, so it could change) someplace in CA, it starts sept 24th

2nd dove season is pretty much in every state where doves are legal to hunt. (CA as well) and that starts Nov 10th-dec 24th

while im at it...lol

Pheasant: ?? usually starts same day as 2nd dove
ducks: oct 20 -jan 27
geese: oct 20-jan 27
snipe: oct 20-jan 27

something doesnt look right. i think i need to rewrite my seasons list haha. official seasons should be released in OCT
