Im leaving for AZ in a couple days, I get to hunt on a good friends farm down there, probably the best hunting for a city kid like me.

I normally use a 870 20g, but I might mess around with the oooooooold 20g single shot I grew up with, good times.

I always try to limit in under a box of shells, and after acouple of days to warm up I normally can get to that or to a box and a half.
Dang ímpressive the national average is 3 downed birds per.box of 25

20 g ftw!

wait are you kidding me? wow we sucky aim lol... 20g is great, the only other gauge that Ive shot has been 16, which is really fun, but it makes it alot easier.

I really really want an over and under 20g shotgun...

i average about 3 shots per dove early season and about 5 shots per dove late season pretty good in my book!

870 express mag, modified choke, 20 gauge! harder to shoot tiny birds \

i never want an over and under gun but they are VERY popular for skeet...no idea why lol

----------

http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/view...229509&start=0

----------

i always keep track mentally! itd be easier if i had a pitch counter on my belt lol i usually take about 30 shells in my vest but always return if i need more.

my goal is to limit out. idgaf how many shells it takes. i WILL limit out this year! (ps. i also hunt duck, geese, snipe, phesant at the same time i am hunting dove lol)

----------

EXACTLY THE KIND OF ADVICE i am giving a buddy of mine who is hunting for the first time with me lol i dont know if we will see much on public land, the officials say people do okay out there, but he wants to deer hunt. anyway...

1. Only take a .410 if you enjoy missing doves.
2. Use a tighter choke than you think you need, the kill zone on doves are smaller than a clay target and you will need the extra shot density to keep from wounding birds. Start with IC and bring a modified for backup if the birds are especially shy.
3. Don't neglect camo. Dress about like you would for turkeys.
4. Carefully mark where birds go down. A dove in a burned over wheat field or stripped flower field can be very hard to find. I'm bad enough at it that I quit trying for doubles and just go pick up the first bird I hit.
5. Practice at the skeet range with your shotgun at low ready instead of mounted to your shoulder when you call pull. Doves won't show up just when you expect them.

yeah my dream gun is a 20g citori over and under. they are really really fun guns to shoot. and are amazing at killing birds.

good advice, I hunt in brush most of the time, so its a pain to find downed birds, especially if you dont kill them..

I dont stop hunting until I limit, yeah I guess I would end up avg. about 3 shells per bird, but Im always trying to beat that, and with my brothers around I of course have to out shoot them just to let them know whos boss (fyi Im the youngest)

I get bored if there's nothing.flying lol which is why I usually stop duck hunting when the snipe season ends, duck usually extends about two Weeks past lol

Nice on trying to best everyone! I always try to hit as best as I can,I see it as saving money cuz ammo is not that cheap ESP when hunting ducks with steel!

I have honestly only hunted twice (birds) with someone in the last like... 5 years, this weekend is with my future brother in law, hopefullu that will draw them between us lol

ducks/geese/waterfowl are bottom feeders and since most duck hunters hunt over water, the lead ends up on the bottom of the water and they eat them and die.

Same as the deer zone A in california (i fucked up and bought copper rifle shells and didnt notice it was only lower zone A) anyways, the california condor eats dead animals and when people field dress their deer, they leave the guts behind and ta da......lead in the condor!

but its only lower zone A, not the zone i am hunting in. 53 fucking bucks for 20 shells and its illegal to return ammo!
