Default I filed for Disability Friday...

I hated to do it and I had to wait a week and a half before my appointment to file. This past friday I filed for my disability. After working for nearly 20 years through multiple injuries, and the fact that my health took a dump on me about year ago, I had no choice but to file. The decision came after trying to do yard work one saturday. I hurt so bad and couldn't hardly move and I had to stop every 20 to 30 minutes and sit down. Even Icy Hot didn't help. I've hated to do it, but felt I had no choice. This sucks. I'd rather work than sit on my ass, but when you can't you can't. That damn heat stroke I had last year is pretty much where it all started like a domino effect.

That does blow. I would rather work then sit my self. Prepare your self for a long battle. It took my father 1 year to finally "win" and be awarded disability. If you suffer from any kinda paranoia. You will be freaking out a lot. You will notice a person following you for about 1-2 weeks. Just checking in on you.

I know man, it sucks. I have no paranoia issues at all. He or she can watch me all damn day if they want to, nothing will change at all. I already know it's going to be a long battle. I've already looked into getting a good lawyer for my claim. I hated to file for it, but really had no choice in the matter.

If you can find a lawyer who was once a disability judge you will be better off. There are short cuts to getting approved faster. Some wait over 1 year.

I'm looking for one that used to be a disability Judge. I may have found a couple already.

I appreciate that more than you'll ever know. In the past I've not been very religeous, but these days I'm trying to clean up my act alot. Just walking around a doing normal stuff has become a challenge.

Hope you get it, 20 years is a good time of working, and you deserve to be helped out since you can't work anymore without pain. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts! I hope it all works out.

I can barely move on a good day and it all started about a year ago with a heat stroke and leg cramp. Ever since then, it's been getting worse. I filed for it under mobility issues. I've been paying into it since my first job in 1990 and feel that I more than deserve to get it. I have no family other than my mom which I'm staying with her and try to help her around the house a bit.

Yes I have. I am thankful to be alive and still have a place I can call home. I'd like that very much to be able to meet other members on here and hang out a bit. You see I take pleasure in the simple things of life and never take anything for granted either. I learned this the hard way many years ago. Treasure what you have cause you might not have it the next day and you'll regret it for a long time.

----------

I wish to say thanks to all of those whom sent best wishes my way. I hated to file for it but really had no choice. Here I am about to turn 36 this july and during rainy days and cold winter days I can barely get out of bed on these days I mentioned. Rhumetoid Arthuritis, knows no age. I don't envy anyone with this stuff or anyone whom has mobility issues. I now know how hard some people have it when it comes to getting around. It sucks and changes your outlook on life as well as other things. I feel a little on the useless side at times but have learned to accept it and move on. I am not taking any pain medication either. I do not want to get hooked on that shit and ruin my life as I've seen so many other people do over the past couple of years. I'm tough and Icyhot will be a huge help on the bad days.

Wow, best of luck on the case and I hope you find a way to ease the pain.

Your mention of heat stroke and the problems you had makes me :/. Back in 2008 I was hit with Heat Exhaustion twice within a month. Both times I immediately found a cool place to be and drank plenty of water. I haven't noticed any effects from it, but you can't find me anywhere outside without a bottle of water. It's a scary thing to deal with and I definitely don't want to go through it again. The first time I got it, it was after about two hours of being outside. The second time I got, it was after just half an hour.

It aint no fun waking up in a hospital bed wondering what happened and having several IV's pumping fluid into you. It's even worse when you've been in there for 3 or 4 days and not even realized it. I was in there for 2 weeks cause mine was considered a mild heat stroke, if that's mild I'd hate to see an extreme case of it. The only comical thing about it was the day I was getting released. I asked if I can get a beer to celebrate my birthday right in front of my aunt and uncle. My aunt says why do want that beer so bad. My uncle then steals a line from smokey and the bandit and says cause he's thirsty, dummy. I busted out laughing and also realized that I have the old joker laugh. I needed to laugh after all of that. That done me alot of good to laugh. Sometimes that is the best medicine, Laughter.

Yea luckily for me, I threw up my breakfast both times, so it was a warning to get myself cooled down. It hits you sooooo fast. I didn't notice any of the symptoms. I never puke though, hadn't puked since about 2001, so I knew something was wrong.

Another 5 minutes you would've been out kold or dead. It's happens within minutes. If you're lucky enough to catch the symptoms in time, you're glad that you did and never want to go through it again. 3 of us came in at the same time with almost the same thing. One didn't make it through the night, the other is considered a vegatable. The sucky part is, the one that became a vegatable after it happened, spent his 21st birthday and many since in a nursing home.
